Well I've been thinking and re-thinking on what kind if style I should do for ELEM, the traditional black outline or cel-shading. An example is below to compare.

Traditional Black Outline

Cel-Shading

Please tell me on which one looks better.

And also I've been planning to include some classical music into the game as well. I don't want to include many since I want the musicians who are willing to help get featured as well. The songs I'm planning on using are:

-Ride of the Valkyries
-Flight of the Bumblebees
-Night on Bald Mountain
-Beethoven 5th Symphony
-The Blue Danube Waltz

Please state your thoughts.

BAH. I suppose I have to translate once again.

I wish so that thy soul shall be damned; you shall spend eternity in Hell! That is the only way for you to redeem your pathetic self.

In my opinion, you are wrong simply because of how Elem would have told Jenny about his lack of a member - look, Rayman! ...oi, that may have been harsh. Apologies.

Shall shedding wood make enough money to fund a fangame such as Elem or Darvenge of the Reck?

If you as much as suggest I help you with this, I say the business shall turn to profit - in a masterful way, no less.

Sadly I must say no for now. I've tried endlessly trying to fit that piece somewhere but I can not. Maybe once I update this thread with the worlds I'll be all ears for suggestions, but for now I only plan on using the ones listed. (Though I have to admit Hebrides Overture is pretty damn amazing!)

Thank you Rulez for the translation. I don't really reply to such comments like the one above, but it has much flaws, I have this desirable need to point them out.

First of all, why would I need Elem need a wanker in the first place? This a children's game for God's sake. Nobody needs a damn penis in their head while playing, so who gives a rotten f*ck about the importance of the male reproduction system on a cartoon character.

Second, Elem is not funded at all. (Neither is ROTD, and keep Adsolutiom out of this) because clearly we ain't doing these projects for money, simply for fun and enjoyment for others.

Lastly I decline your "offering" of help, simply because your F*CKING eleven. You probably don't know even have the slightest knowledge of business and I'm not even interested in making money at this point. Further comments of yours that are like the one you made as the one translated by Rulez will be ignored from this point on.
I bid thee a farewell.

EDIT: In the future just ignore such comments.

The best part of this whole conversation is that Zombiechicken is Adsolution's Ting account.

^What this retard is trying to say is that he will enjoy ELEM even if it doesn't include male genitalia. I for one have no idea why he would even care about that, but I think you're doing good as it is. I like the 'cel-shaded' style more than the black outlines actually.

The cell-shaded colour-scheme is a lot nicer, except for the face area. The eyes, I think, would do well with the traditional black outlines and the borders of the face itself should be a little bit darker.

I'll take note of that. Though I've decided to go with the Traditional Black outline for now since it'll be easier for me to animate the models.

Speaking of animation, I've been really sucking at it lately. I've tried making a background water fall and that's the result.

Though luckily I will be on Spring Break for an entire week and devoted it to learn animation and at least make one simple walk cycle. Wish me luck.

The dark blue outlines of the waterfall should move as the water falls itself. You can have, say, five frames of different positions of those waves before it loops back to frame 1, if you want to keep it as simple as possible.

I recommend using the colouring you had in the cell-shaded technique together with the black outlines. The body looked much better with the cell shading, for example, but it could still have a black outline. Of course you'll just make the animation with the not-yet-coloured-in bodies to get the animation itself done, but afterwards I'd add the cell-shading colouring as a neat detail.

You might want to either slow down the animation or make it flow. It's going to give someone a seizure in its current state.

Please tell me how the animation is. Feedback is appreciated! Also note this was done traditional frame by frame, no tweening or such. I will do Jeens and Eli walk cycles soon.

Not too shabby, though there seems to be a part where he sort of "snaps," I don't quite know how to explain it, but it is noticeable.

It should be looped.

It doesn't loop because the animation only appears to be 60-70% complete. His arms and legs both don't complete the full two-step stride cycle, more like... one and a half steps, sort of.

I do, however, love what you're going for. It's a lively yet dignified walking animation.

It looks great, considering you haven't used any tweens at all. Frame by frame is my mode of preference too.

However, some tips: I can already see a problem with his hair when animating. It grows in size as more frames go by. This can give you problems when you want to create the final frames to make it loop. Also, it might look funny if you do get it to loop well this way. You'll want to make sure the hair is the same size everywhere, or at least 'grows' more naturally, if that was what you intended to do. Also, his body keels over forwards towards the end of the cycle. I'm not sure this is what you want him to do while he walks, but maybe that's something you should look at. And then, more traditionally, characters 'bounce' up and down a bit as they walk, so their arms make a double-arc motion. Maybe you don't want that for ELEM, I don't know, but maybe that's something you want to look at as well:
http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/02w/walk1.shtml

It's a very smooth and neat animation, so far, though! I like the style you're going for a lot and I'm fond of the colours you used. The good thing about his variety of colours is that you'll be able to pick him out of the busy backdrops easily, if you're going to go for a background similar to the ones you've shown us in your sketches (which are beautiful and are worth trying to get into the game). Keep at it - you're doing great!

The second world in ELEM. As the name applies, it is the world of fire. There's also a Rayman 2 reference in this world.

And here we have some view points of the characters.
