I totally agree with the points made about the milking of Rayman 2. It's not that I feel I have to buy Rayman 2 on everything (fun fact, I've never actually bought the game, ever! That might change so I can get Revolution, though!

), it's just that releasing half arsed ports is very teasing, when they could maybe try giving us a more upgraded version of the game. It's especially annoying how they never make these ports based off of Revolution. I think a HD remaster of that would be nice, that fixes some of the issues people claim it has (never played Revolution yet). I just don't get why they don't do that, as opposed to making half arsed ports that end up in the bargain bin in a week or so. It'd be better for them, and the fans would eat it up.

What annoys me about Rayman 3D aren't the problems (because it barely has any, it's a pretty solid port), it's the fact that they backpedalled on what they originally had planned on doing. Rayman 3D was supposed to look like this:
Now I've come to the conclusion that there's a good chance they never made it to this stage and that those are probably rendered and/or edited screenshots, but the 3DS is easily powerful enough to handle these enhanced graphics. Wtf, Ubisoft?

Hm, there's always something about that last screenshot which bugged me, Rayman looks rather odd there.
I'm reminded now of my noob video on Rayman 3D I did a few years ago, ahh, I was meh on it then, and I'm meh on it now.

The 3D is horizontally stretched in that last image, but the HUD isn't. Not really how or why that could have happened.

odd. it looks a lot better in those pictures, more like a remake than the port it became.

Yeah, those are mock-ups for concept purposes, not in-game screenshots.
But those concept screenshots are what I kind of want from a new version of Rayman 2. It's kind of aggravating - they name the DS and 3DS ports like they are new games, but they are just inferior versions of the game.
I'm actually kind of surprised Beyond Good & Evil ever got a proper HD remaster, yet Rayman 2/Revolution never did.

There was also this one that I'd forgotten:
Clearly Rayman's model was edited in there, but again, the 3DS is plenty capable of making it actually look like that.
- Also, lel at Foutch's missing fire.

Aye. Though at this point, there's no reason they can't go even further with it.
Rayman DS had the strangest marketing scheme, they really seemed proud of that touch-joystick they had going there.

The one in the Foutch fight at least had a shadow, the one in the Woods of Light doesn't seem to do so, and makes the shop obvious.
Either way, I concur, the 3DS was more than capable of hosting a properly touched up and well made incarnation of Rayman 2.

Agreed with the 3DS being perfectly capable of a graphically enhanced Rayman 2. Luigi's Mansion 2 looks beautiful. With that being said, if Ubisoft announced a brand new 3D Rayman game for just the 3DS, I wouldn't complain, it's perfectly feasible to make stellar 3D platformers on the 3DS, graphically and in terms of game mechanics. Even Sonic Lost World looks fun on the 3DS.

Meh, if Ubi did announce a new 'un for the 3DS that played in 3D, my already resolute want for the 3DS would turn into an unquenchable need.

If they re release Rayman 2 for the 8234141 time the least they could do is give their models a little update, show a little effort.
Or they could stop re releasing it and make another rayman 3D platformer oops

I think that wasn't even used in the game. I wonder why they always have to scrap good things.
No no. It's definitely in the game. It just doesn't play the whole track. Its section plays before you activate the Mecha-Serpent.

Rayman 3D had many potential to have been much better than the final product. One of the things it upsets me most in the port is the unforgivable and easily avoidable upside-down and mirrored textures. What the hell, seriously. I could list more issues of Rayman 3D but I need to go to sleep now (I actually should have been on bed for one hour ago but I wanted to make a visit).
By the way, I'm nearly finishing RL on Wii U at 100%. I'm 15000 Lums away from Rayomz and less than 70 points away from Level 11. Then I only need to focus on the PC version to get Level 11!
I also managed to get a Diamond Cup a few days ago in a Daily Extreme Challenge for PC's RL!

Back on topic, what are your guys thoughts on the game's sales not meeting expectations. As I stated before, Ubisoft has no one to blame but themselves, delaying the game on the same month as GTA 5 was just asking for trouble. Origins had that problem too, it was released the same month as Uncharted 3 and Skyrim. I hope Ubisoft realizes the game's poor sales was their fault.

It's not as simple as laying fault on any one company for a game's less than stellar sales. There's a lot more to it than that. For a game to be financially successful, you need to constantly be in contact with marketing departments and others of the like, so there's a lot of pressure from those areas. Even if a game in and of itself is fantastic, you need to go back and forth as to what the best time is to release it in order to get the most sales. So even if the developers themselves know when the best time is, there's a lot of pushing and shoving from marketers and the higher-ups who don't always know what they're doing. And it's not just Ubisoft. There's a lot of pressure from competitors as well as to what time is best. There's so much pressure that goes on; people are bound to make a mistake. So, it's not about fault. Just that some decisions were not the best ones and the blame should not be placed on just one person or group. There are a number of other factors that come into play when there is a deadline to meet, especially when you're a company and money needs to be made. And when you're met with a lot of pressure from other people, mistakes, as I said, are going to happen. Just putting that out there.
If anything I say is off, I do apologize. I am by no means a business person.

I myself have reached level 9. Although, I'm slightly less than 3/4 of a million away from Rayomz, I've won a couple of gold cups in the Challenges. I'm also working on Back to Origins and have so far gotten 100% on everything up to Desert of the Didgeridoos.

I apologize if I sounded a little rude. I was one of those people who were SUPER pissed off at the delay, and seeing something like that just brought that anger back momentarily. I'm pretty sure Ubisoft tried their best for this game, and I don't think they'll give up on their mascot. Unlike a certain other company with a mascot that's name also ends with man.
BTW: I've seen your artwork, great stuff.

If only these ports were provided as part of some kind of free market system, where those who want to play them could exchange money for them and those who don't could simply carry on with their lives. Oh well. Maybe one day our society will reach that utopian stage where purchasing products is optional. Until then we can do nothing but rage bitterly against the widespread availability of a classic game for a modern audience.
You know? just because you can ignore them doesn't mean that they aren't still a cheap trial from Ubisoft to keep milking the same game.

I'd say what you're saying is a bit off, in the sense that it really was Ubisoft's fault and nobody else's (Ubisoft as a publisher, that is, I don't mean the development team in Montpellier). It was them that chose to delay it until September, even though their previous release date would of been perfect. There was not really any big games coming out then, let alone on Wii U. The only game I can think of that came out around that time that had hype was Lego City Undercover, but I don't think that would of killed sales for Rayman Legends, unlike GTA V and other blockbusters. Not to mention Nintendo's own exclusive titles are overshadowing Legends on Wii U. Nintendo are even being really heavy on the marketing for Sonic Lost World. While Legends got coverage from Nintendo, it was kind of moot, as Nintendo's exclusives got even more coverage these last few months.
