Ubisoft is veeeery spoiled in terms of numbers, probably thanks to the AC sales. Seriously, even Zombi U sold pretty decently for a new IP, and they already said the franchise is doomed because it didn't hit the million.

Where exactly have they stated that franchise is doomed?

I wonder if those numbers are from the people that did swear they wouldn't buy just because of the constant delays...

Well Haruka, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened.

Thats for ZombiU. ZombiU and Rayman situation cannot be compared in my opinion. ZombiU was a new IP, while Rayman is not. I am sure if they do not delay the next Rayman game, more people will buy it.

it may have sold more if the Wiiu version was released early and the other systems followed, that way it wasn't in direct competition of GTA and Pokemon.

You'll be surprised, from what I've read, Pokemon is second only to Mario himself when it comes to Nintendo's franchises.

Not only to Nintendo's franchises, but franchises in general. Mario is the best selling franchise ever, and Pokemon is second best franchise ever. GTA is third best when we don't count Wii games that came bundled.

So, yeah, definitely a very bad window to launch Legends.
Hm, I find it really interesting how Pokemon has gotten as far as it has, it's certainly seems to have more stuff when it comes to merch.

Yeesh, all this talk about sales makes me feel bad for ol' Rayman.

And apparently, the sellings aren't going well in Japan:

I would say it isn't amusing, knowing how Japanese aren't quite turned to western products.

Jeez, that article is depressing. Considering how quirky and imaginative Rayman is I thought for sure it'd sell big in Japan. But 1,500 copies? seriously?

Yet CoD sells good even in Japan sadly. Now I don't understand it one bit. From my experience and what many other people know, Japanese mostly hate Western games except for Ratchet and few others. Now when you compare Rayman and CoD, Rayman is much more closer to their usual taste than CoD (Japanese love RPG's and Platformers best). I guess not too many people in Japan know who Rayman is to begin with, hence why were sales bad. Releasing RL in Japan for Wii U only was mistake as well. I know it's on PC via Steam as well but that really does not count. If they wanted to sell RL in Japan only on 1 console, it should have been PS3 because RO in Japan and Worldwide sold best on PS3.

Well, the Wii U is actually quite popular in Japan, especially since Pikmin 3 came out. So I don't think it's an issue of what console they released it on.

However, I don't think this is the end. The next game will CERTAINLY be another 2D game, though. There is no way they are going to spend big money on a 3D game with Rayman's popularity still being up in the air. Origins and Legends were low budget games. So they will play it safe, and make another one. Hopefully, they will release it at a better time, and not delay it for a stupid reason, therefore pissing off people who had intended to buy the game (I'm all for game delays if it is for adding more to the game, or polishing it. I know Legends technically did this, but it wasn't the REASON behind the delay). I also have a feeling they may make the next one download only, to further reduce costs.

It's sad to say that a lot of people are actually waiting for Legends to be put up on PS Plus. They're just that annoyed by the delay.

Seeing how much Ubi values their games selling well, I kinda doubt there will be another. And to be honest I don't want another one. Not that it's not fun to play but if they do another one just to get some money out of a safe, low budget game I doubt it would have any care put into it.

I would rather see a R1HD remake now rather than a 3rd RO-alike game.

A third game would feel like New Super Mario Bros. U, meaning it could potentially be the most fun to play but the concept is tired and repetitive.
