For me, I agree with it being due to them not always pursuing with their work journey, but there’s aspects that’ll affect this such as toxic work environments and people’s tendencies to not promote women in their work. (Such as not taking them seriously, or fearing they’ll take maternity leave, which creates a tricky ethical dilemma.) Thus, the gender pay gap is different wherever you look, rather than it coming down to figures like “It’s 1 dollar for a guy, 71 cents for a woman and 66 cents for a black woman.”. (Which yes, I actually did hear somebody say that.)

How much of that is influenced by societal biases, and how much can be attributed to natural differences between men and women (in turn raising the question, how much did the latter shape the former), I have no idea, and neither does anyone pretending to know.
While I (for once) agree with you on this, I propose this question : if the choice is influenced by societal biases, is it fully conscious?

You make a good point, some discrimination might also prevent them from reaching the equal positions on which it makes sense to compare salaries.

Conscious of making that decision, certainly, Conscious of all the factors that led them there... is that even possible for anyone?

I voted no this time... I think every person should have their own space playing videogames, and it's unfair for casual players to force them to play classics that aren't interested about.

That said, I think it's time to move on! I was thinking about a poll related to the recent age restrictions on the Internet. Thoughts on this? Or maybe we can try with the gender gap...

I like the sound of the age restrictions idea! Or I’ve another idea; Do you prefer Video Game OST or other music?

• I love video game OST, and I listen to it far more than any other type of music.
• While video game music can be great, I tend to prefer other kinds of music.
• I love to have a mix of both in my life.
• Who cares? I hate music!

I vote for OST as well; shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that I’d choose the first option… :oops2:

Why are we all voting in a poll that’s not even up or may not even come up this time around?

You underestimate my ability to make everything political :bad:

As for the videogames question... I'd argue that there are two games that everybody should play at least once, and those are Super Mario Bros and Tetris.

Through cultural osmosis, these two franchises are ingrained into most of our lives and it's either a fun gateway into the world of videogames or a great teaching tool for the bumbling old farts to show them that videogames require hand-eye coordination.

Music can also be used in politics, even in videogames :hinhinhin:

Well that said, I'll go with the OST poll, and I'll keep the original idea in case there are no suggestions for the next one.
I'll update the topic in a few hours... Just posting this as a reminder.

Okay so here we go, let's take Goop's idea! Do you enjoy videogames OST or not? If that's the case, which one do you usually listen?

And as always, here you have the results from the previous one.

I vote for regular music. Though there are some great video game OSTs in my opinion, Braid stood out to me in particular.

Most of the music I listen to isn't from original videogame soundtracks. However, I have discovered many artists thanks to videogames, and that is something that has enriched me musically. Taking Need For Speed as an example, thanks to this game I discovered Pendulum, The Prodigy, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Celldweller and Bullet for my Valentine.

From videogames OST, I'd say I listened to RDR1, Gran Turismo and BB the most. I really liked Budokai's OST too, but most of it was plagiarized from original artists

There are all kinds of types of music in my playlist. It goes from Gregorian style songs to modern day K-Pop, it stands to reason that video game soundtracks are part of them (movie soundtracks as well)

And amongst them, the styles can vary. There's a variety of Megaman X, Rayman, Zelda, Mass Effect, Kingdom Hearts. Just like with "regular" music (as Green puts it), they serve differents moods for different purposes.

Honestly, I almost exclusively listen to video game music - if you’ve been following the music listening topic, that shouldn’t come as a surprise. :oops2:

Ten years ago I would definitely have gone with just game OSTs, but now it's more a mix for me. Actually I don't really do much listening to OSTs these days, but still I own the BG&E vinyl (why no Dancing with DomZ?? :pascontent:) and have a Rayman M tune as my ringtone, soo... :hap:

I think I'm probably in a similar position as Plum, I used to listen predominantly to VG OSTs, with some other movie and tv soundtracks here and there. But in recent years I've probably had a far more even mix between soundtracks and general music.

Doesn't mean I don't enjoy recent game music...hell I've been obsessing over the Deltarune Ch3+4 OST for the last 2 months now, but there's other stuff too in there as well. Though some of the stuff I enjoy does come from an enjoyment of VG OSTs, for instance I do like a lot of music in the vein of Anamanaguchi's work.

I only really listen to Rayman in terms of OST. I listen mostly to rave music and have some good happy hardcore and electronic stuff to suggest if anyone wants some :)
