Ugh, for the last time, I don't value mechanics over all else in most cases. In the case of Legends, yes, the mechanics are what's most important, as it's a raw platformer with exploration elements, and it has the Online Challenges mode which relies solely on mechanics (and server maintenance :V) to be considered great. The presentation of Legends is still amazing though. This is actually why I enjoy Legends more, as a whole, though which I prefer is irrelevant. My criticisms for Rayman 2 have no comparison in Legends, as Rayman Legends did not even attempt to make the characters connect with us, and instead went for a more LittleBigPlanet-esque approach, where the character is just supposed to be you, and you can interpret Rayman and friends any which way you want. Rayman 2, however, clearly tried to establish more developed characters with distinct personalities, and established relations between characters, and attempted to use these relations to get emotional reactions from the player - I feel it kind of failed to accomplish this aspect of it's presentation, though. And the "it's an old game" excuse does not work either, because other games at the time did this just fine, as they had more build up and character development, and still had as much charm as Rayman 2's characters "have").

My point was directly criticising artistic aspects of Rayman 2, as I thought they fell very flat in some areas (character presentation and the obvious attempts at emotional impact falling flat to a lack of substance to the world and a lack of agency between Rayman and the player). I had relatively small complaints about the game mechanics, and I hardly even mentioned the latter. So no, this has nothing to do with me appreciating mechanics over the "artistic" side of things (though I would argue that mechanics mean just as much to artistic expression in video games as graphics, music, story, characters, etc, but I digress).

Depending on the genre, I value certain things more. If a game is a straight up platformer (like Legends), I value mechanics more. If it's an action-adventure game with actual story and cutscenes and dialogue (like Rayman 2), presentation usually means a bit more to me (even if I end up liking the mechanics a lot. In the case of Rayman 2, it's presentation was of more value than it's mechanics, for sure. It's presentation still has flaws though).

And I have played a lot of Epic Mickey. It's a brilliant game (I even found it's mechanics perfectly fine, and the presentation was jaw-dropping, and the atmosphere was one of the most immersive I've experienced in a modern platform-adventure). I never did finish it, but I was near the end, and I saw the ending because of my brother (I know the ending can be slightly different depending on certain things, but it's fairly inconsequential in the grand scheme of things). I'll play through it again one day, though. My brother has the sequel on Vita, and he liked it, so maybe I'll try that too.

Also, that image implies the exact opposite of what you're saying: That The Lion King's impact clearly isn't simply a nostalgia factor. Not that that might not be the case with some people talking about Rayman 2, but that's not evidently so at the moment, so your post is totally irrelevant.

You don't trust any of us to compare them on an even scale, simply because you don't feel the same way most people do about Rayman 2? Should I be offended on behalf of the entire community?
I thought I was reading it wrong, but thats what this whole thing seemed about, which rayman generation is better and whatnot. I may have been remembering another post, but the conversation was driving me mad! oh well, seems like things are patching up by themselves.
EDIT: well i'm obviously only making a fool of myself so i'll be silent for a while

I found recording software that is million times better than FRAPS. DXTory and Bandicam. It records modern games really good even on highest resolution. When I tried Rayman Legends with DXtory on 720p, it struggled a lot. Bandicam did it better, but I still experienced issues on 720p so I had to put resolution on lower. With PlayClaw however, on 1080p it barely lags. I don't even have to mention 720p. I was surprised that my shitty PC with terrible processor and RAM handeled it but it happened. I highly recommend this program. I suggest you first get PlayClaw 3 on thepiratebay to test it, and if you like it, show support and buy PlayClaw 5 on Steam (PlayClaw 5 is impossible to crack so thats why PlayClaw 3 is only on thepiratebay). When I get paid in 30th November by YouTube, I sure will get PlayClaw 5 on Steam. I heared it works even better than PlayClaw 3. Right now there is discount on Steam for PlayClaw so hurry up those who have money now.

I tried the PlayClaw 5 trial, seems to me that my laptop is just not good enough for that either, in Rayman 3 I went from 30 fps, to 10 fps when recording. Meh, I won't get anything done for my channel 'til I get a beefier computer, it seems.

I could record emu's and the like, but given current circumstances, I try not to end up putting on too many emulators on my laptop, the HDD size has woefully become rather tiny for my needs. Once upon a time, with 140GB of disk space, the world was my oyster, now, it's quite the set back in many cases.

They had actually started working again when I was playing last night (UK time).

Looks like I might continue playing the Challenges after all. :V

And I FINALLY got word back from Beyond Gaming about my prize. They suddenly just asked for my phone number. PROGRESS.

I find Fraps works fine if you have the specs for it. I used to actually be able to record stuff with it, but my laptop broke soon after I figured it out. And now, I have my laptop fixed, but can't get Fraps working.

Here are the tests I did do for Fraps, though (you should be able to turn the quality up to 720p, IIRC):

And 140 GB wouldn't even be enough to hold a single Max video render of mine. Really, that's SSD size without it even being an SSD.

A single video?

Anyways, I have 100GB of storage space, which is small considering i often record walkthrough videos with Fraps, and that generates huge file sizes ( even on 720p with 30fps it generates about 1-2 gigs per 5 minutes )

I have awarded my first gold-cup in the challenges in 3rd Novermber's challenge though. I'm pissed. It all happened because of the SHIT UBISOFT SERVERS, WHICH CAN'T DAMN WORK WELL.

I have 170GB free out of 1TB
Most of spaces are taken with Abandonware ISOs, Steam games and Japanese movies which my old teacher gave me few years back from external HDD. I should really buy External 1GB HDD myself and put many stuff there so I can free my computer memory.

Sorry to double post, but it's official, The Dragon Chef and Daisy have official names. They are El Stomacho and Carnivora, respectively.

So far, Rayman, Globox, Green Teensy, GlobRay, and Red Globox. I've counted 8 characters, and I'm assuming DarkRay/Raymesis is playable, because he's one of the wallpaper images. Though there he's called "Rayman Alter Ego". So that's like, what, the 5th name DarkRay's gotten?

I still do not see the game in GooglePlay. I will check again when I return from school tonight.
