Rayman Pirate-Community

Well as much as I'd like to believe that, it drastically shrinks my view of the planet's size, which is something I'm not very fond of, but that's just because I'm biased by my own Rayman universe (the one I'm setting up for my game, yes?). Still, it surprises me that, given that the Glade is indeed a massive continent and not a small-ish island (by comparisson), the inhabitants of the Glade never ventured off to the tiny islands just off their shores to investigate, and so never came in contact with the indigenous lifeforms (Rayman's kind). Don't you think that in the Glade's history there would have been at least one person who would go all Columbus on them and try to explore the world around their coasts?

But the Glade is merely an island, not a planet. Who knows what lies beyond the Sea of Lums?

Could be America.

I would think that someone would explore beyond the known world, I just can't believe that the map of Rayman 2 is of the whole planet, I would like there to be much more, more which can be discovered in future instalments.
I've always believed that one tiny island in the middle left to house the valley, and the six at the left corner to house the areas of RO, much like the Caribbean islands of the real world. I've always thought the mainland to be about the size of a continent, but not so vast that it would be the entire planet.

No of course not, but that's not what I meant. This assumption that Master makes is an example of why I don't like the idea of all of the games' areas being cluttered together in one place; it forces all games into a tight space and leaves not much room to think about what other places in the world may look like. It leaves room for speculation, sure, but it crushes the thought that the games might all take place in a completely different part of the world, which would make it a far larger one if it were the case.

But like I said - my own canon is interfering with the actual canon.

Rayman 3's locations aren't in the Glade, are they? Where in the Glade is there a desert? Maybe its locations are hints to what the rest of the world looks like.

Rayman 3 takes place in the 'Crossroads of Dreams,' however in French it still retained the name 'Glade,' I believe. So yes, it does take place in the Glade.

Besides, if they leave the rest of the world unexplained, that gives rooms for fans to expand upon this.

I think it is easier to think that the Crossroad of Dreams is nothing more nothing less than a translation mistake. Look at Mario games: they translate things from Japanese to English and there are never translation mistakes, like something calling originally X and years later reappearing with Y name.

Maybe we should start calling Rayman Reimann to avoid confusion in Asia.

In french the "glade" of dream is "La croisée des rêves" litterally "the crossroad of dreams". "Glade" in french is "clairière". So the Rayman 3 translation is closer.
