< has got the HGST HDDS ordered for the NAS. It will use six 5TB drives. Though two of them will be parity drives. Yielding 20TB of usable space and a max failure of only two drives at any one time without data loss.

< had to learn while < was in the Army. Now < has to teach the skill to <'s brother, so < climbed ropes again (after a 4 year hiatus). < doesn't know why < stopped : it's a very effective exercise for all the upper muscles, and it's a pretty good skill for when WW3 comes around.

It is <'s birthday tomorrow, but strangely < isn't hyped at all.

< is stuck on deciding between a couple of pieces of hardware for the NAS. Ideally, < wants low power consumption out of the CPU. So the onboard Atom/Xeon solutions are looking most promising.
