Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Differences I could just pick out from Shroobie's Post:
1. Lives are worth 50 tings, Instead of 100
2. You can press SELECT to skip passed levels! (I must say that is quite handy), such a feature does not exist on the PS1 version
3. Different coloured slippery surfaces (but that's already been seen via screenshots)
4. Non-transparent water in Eat at Joes.
I'm not good with audio, so I can't comment on that.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
The DS processes audio at only 11025 hz, so it's definitely lower quality than the standard 22050 or 44100 of the other versions.
Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
And Rayman says "Yeah" in a deep manly voice.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
This has got to do with the bitrate of the sound. I thought it was rather amusing and actually thought it was supposed to be that way and UbiSoft was just pulling a joke on us.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
No, the bitrate has nothing to do with it. That's the way he says "yeah" in every version. The bitrate is merely the quality of the sound; for example, the difference in sound when you switch a YouTube video between 360 and 720p.Shrooblord wrote:This has got to do with the bitrate of the sound. Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Aha. My experiences with changing the bitrate also implies that the pitch is lowered. So it was UbiSoft pulling a joke on us. Great!

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Lowering the pitch/slowing it down isn't reducing the bitrate, you're merely expanding the waveform. That is, unless you're playing a raw saw synth, then the pitch would lower (as the whole tone would be dependent on the frequency of the ticks that make up the saw wave, and lowering the bitrate would bypass many ticks), but that's not a very common thing to be playing around with unless you're into synth sculpting and perhaps dubstep.Shrooblord wrote:Aha. Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Strange. I was working on a waveform file that a friend needed from me to make his robot talk (I got to voice it), but it needed low-frequency files (about 11025 Hz) so I converted my files to that frequency, and then some really odd time-stretchy things happened. Cubase was weird like that. When I opened it in Audacity, nothing of the sort happened. I wonder what Cubase was doing then.

Heheh, professional software as you know is usually a lot less straightforward, and you need to do more to achieve your desired results, but as opposed to freeware, your results are infinite. I don't use Cubase though, so I can't really give you an exact reason.Shrooblord wrote:Strange. I'm really interested in learning how to do stuff in Cubase, like panning VSTs from left to right or understanding why some VSTs don't respond to internal Cubase controls but must be controlled some other (to me yet unbeknownst) way.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Panning is an extremely fundamental effect that can be achieved in every DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), and it's always located up front in the mixer (along with volume, mute and solo), usually indicated with a dial/knob, or something labeled "pan."Shrooblord wrote:I'm really interested in learning how to do stuff in Cubase, like panning VSTs from left to right or understanding why some VSTs don't respond to internal Cubase controls but must be controlled some other (to me yet unbeknownst) way.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Yes, you see, the thing is, the pan with the regular mixer works fine for the 'normal' VSTs, say, Komplete, but when I use the 'synthesizer library' from REAKTOR, the whole mixer dials have absolutely no effect on the instruments whatsoever, also not volume or panning. I'm quite surprised this doesn't seem to be documented anywhere...

Oops sorrySpanex wrote:How could I not notice this until you mentioned it?Drolpiraat wrote:The pictures look shopped. In the first picture, the Xowar has the green glow on him from his room in the Tower of the Leptys. The second picture is a drawing. Third picture is real and was made with a cheat code by MyUbisoft (take a look at his youtube channel, he has some cool stuff).
I thought that second picture looked fishy... the Xowar is way bigger than in the other shots.
Also notice how in the first picture most of the objects look like they've been pasted on top of a background. For example, the crates just under the health bar*...and why is the bar indicating Rayman's holding a power up while he's not different in color?
*crates have been put over the bar
Aww, and it seemed like such an amazing find... Nice shopping, whoever made this... But give it a good look and you'll see it's pretty obvious. It looks like they were saved in a bad quality in an attempt to cover up the holes.
Didnt notice either feelin betrayed!

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
I just found a tremendous treasure!!! It's from Rayman 4, although I'm not sure if this is really a concept art, not the fan art. Anyway it looks brilliant

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Thanks for posting these! We’ve never seen them before. The environments depicted here seem to match up very well with those shown in the Guillaume Bonamy artwork, but there’s plenty of new stuff as well. Who would have guessed Dark Rayman had his own lair in Picture City? I wonder if the artwork of the tree reaching into the heavens was the inspiration for the Snoring Tree in Rayman Origins?

Everyone, try using the ‘Search for image’ function in Google Images to search for different copies of the images ShadeAngel just posted. I’ve only run a couple of searches, and I’ve already found loads more artwork. This is insane.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
My word!
These are by far the best Rayman 4 artworks we've seen to date. The amount of creativity and effort that was put into these is outrageous, but now that we've seen all this, why on Earth would they ever give this up and replace them with the Rabbids?

...
ShadeAngel, I salute you for these amazing findings.
EDIT: Just trudged through the surplus findings that Spiral found, and there seemed to be a Pinball land, that is...awesome. Seems like there's definitely more artwork based on what Bonamy had done already, I like the Temporal Palace.
