You're using it as, for example, "I remember a poster". "Remind" should be used like "I remind him of Jessica Alba but I have no idea why because I'm a straight male".

I guess its the habit of using the Past term instead of Present. Forgive me. I fixed.

No, it's not. I think it's because the words appear to mean similar things, but they really don't. I'll explain it for you.
This is how the verbs work:

You remember something when you recall something, say you recall some event from your childhood.
I remember playing Rayman 2 all the time when I was young.

The verb 'remind' requires an object, such as 'him', 'her' or a name like 'Johnny'. It's used when you make someone think of something or someone else. For example, a post-it can remind you to do something, or you can remind someone of a famous celebrity by appearing similar.
That guy we met at the party reminded me of that really shady character from one of Kubrick's films.


I remembered why I had to go to town after the notification on my calendar had reminded me that I needed to get some shopping.

Lets say I was never good in grammar, even in Portuguese. We have one of the most complicated grammars of the world, like time verbs that do not exist in English!

Whoa, from all sudden I cannot remind the names but you might find something if you do research on Google. I'm sure there were time verbs that don't exist in English but yes in my language but I have no Portuguese classes for almost 3 years.

I wonder whether it's more complicated than Polish. In fact, Polish is probably very simple gramatically, except that words have loads of formes. Also, we have... different approach to time than most of languages do.

I like how different cultural aspects reflect themselves in the languages exerted by them (or maybe that's exactly what makes them different). This is why I love being bi-lingual (like, really bi-lingual; not just 'know' two languages - I live two languages): I have a different view on most situations than most people, because I benefit from two different styles of cultural behaviour.

I know a friend who's like that. Sometimes she mixes up languages and starts speaking spanish but suddenly continues in english without even knowing, and that's because she feels it so natural. It's pretty cool to know people like that. My english is not perfect, but I'm doing my best, especially in the vocal area. I sound like freaking Speedy Gonzalez.

Heheh, good luck with that. I've spend four years of my life in the US and I still seem to have moments where my English just completely blanks out.
