< has been practicing violin and cornet all day. Almost.
These are my babies btw.
Image
I only own the blue one, the classical violin I rent from the school and the cornet belongs to the band, but they´ve both been in my possession for so long now. I should, however, at least start looking around for a better cornet/trumpet to buy for myself since everyone else my age who have played for as long as me are doing it, I guess. D:

Stupid camphone.

Playing an instrument together with others is one of the most rewarding things you can do, I think. It´s a key to so many things.
All my best friends I´ve met through music somehow, most of them through the band. I honestly can´t believe I even considered quitting the band this summer. I love that band. If I did quit I would probably come crawling back after a month or two. I love music, playing, being with people in a comfortable environment and setting, eating cookies in the breaks, weekend-trips, sleepovers, just the atmosphere, making something through joined effort, and even though most of the time our results aren´t so good, it is still fun, and we´re moving forwards together. (the fact that the drummer is awfully cute is just a plus)
In three years I will probably move away. I´m not quitting until then. And when I move away I will find another band to join right away, because it will be my key to getting to know people and find new friends.

Of course, some things are not so fun though. Like... the uniforms. Ew. And I would also like to celebrate a normal 17th of May some time, where I didn´t have to wake up 6 o´clock in the morning to play the national anthem beneath a hillside with salute-shooting canons on top, usually in cold, wet and windy weather and with instruments that just squeak sleepily. But that is okay too. We´re together about it. Everyone hates it just as much as the other guy, and we will all be tired and aching and sick of it all by the end of the day, we´ll be passing sour comments among ourselves about how the drum-mayor is walking awfully fast, or about that we are playing way too frequently, or about those dickheads from the dancing studio that brought boomblasters with them that are playing their music so loud the twirlers in front have problems walking correctly since they can´t hear the rhythm from our drummers in the back, and we´re all saying "next year, you´re on your own. I´ll quit this hell by that time." But most don´t go through with it. I don´t know why. I just hate it there and then, but afterwards I sure think fondly of all the things I´ve experienced through the band, even at 17th of May. I haven´t got one single bad memory including the band. Even those memories including us playing outside the hospital in rain and wind without any visible audience, ("they hear us through the window" our leader said. My ass.) most of us only in t-shirts since we weren´t using uniforms that day as it was planned to be just a normal practice, but then we didn´t have a director for some reason (not so long ago, actually. I´d just received my tablet that day so it must have been some weeks ago) is a fun memory by now. (one thing I remember in particular about this day is aforementioned cute drummer´s comment about how those who were lying in a coma would surely wake up now and that I was so wet and cold, so he lent me his jacket and I lent him my fingerless gloves that were really just for props but still, lol. Now I like using those gloves even more, (even though they are a bit stretched now since his hands are a lot bigger than my itty bitty ones) and I wonder if he feels the same way about that jacket)

TL;DR: Music is good for you and band is even better.

... Why did I write this? I´m so odd sometimes, sometimes I just type and type and type and end up with stuff like this. /: Holy shizz. I gotta keep this though. I could crop it down and use it for an English-essay some time, maybe.

That post was rather lengthy. I didn´t plan to write that much to be honest.
Of course, <´s band is of the marching kind, with a lot of musicians (okay maybe not, right now we are around 16, but those 16 that are left now are good musicians (not counting me) and we have 25 aspirants that will be ready to advance to the main band next year, here´s hoping at least 15 of them stay that long) and ugly uniforms and stuff. No singers. : P Just instruments. (Right now we are... 1 clarinet, 2 flutes, 3 trombones, 3 alt-horns, 1 tuba, 5 cornets/trumpets and 3 drummers, lol, so we are not very balanced)
< has band practice todayyy.
< will get to see that awfully cute drummer todayyyy. *spazz*
< has school first. ]:
