Heh, RL really could be like one of those World Of Warcraft expansions

Back to Origins was actually just a dumb way to make the game 4 hours longer and make ppl hyped to make them buy the game. I can't imagine what the storywriter might be doing though.
Ubisoft is continuously lying though. Not only did they lie in case of Rayman 3 HD, that the musics, and graphics were remastered, but also in case of Rayman Legends for Next Gen, the graphics did not get any better and the only addition is the fucking sharing button and the lucky tickets that you can scratch with the touchpad on PS4.
On any other points I agree with Ad and Bionichute.

So Rayman Legends Next Gen graphics-wise looks the same way how PS3 and Xbox 360 versions would look on PS4 and Xb 1 if there was backwards compatibility?

Exactly. Did you believe Ubisoft is actually going to put effort into improving it?
Because I did. And I swear I won't ever do that again, because I'm so fucking disappointed that I have paid 40$ for a game in case I already had!

OMG, you are right. PS4 version is identical to PC version graphic wise. What a waste
Ubisoft is known to be sometimes lazy. I mean Rayman 1 on Rayman Collection 2013 disc runs and looks like a trash.
When I think about it, I am not sure if Rayman 1 HD remake would turn out good.

It sure would, if there was a lot of effort put into it, and not done in the same manner as Ubi's.

Fun fact, they actually finished the next gen ports in December, but had to release it later.

I prefer the graphics on Xbox360.
I have the game on Xbox360...

Huh, that's interesting, I'd like to see the source for myself however.
As for RL Next Gen, meh, I wasn't expecting much of an upgrade anyways, they run in the exact same resolution as the Wii U, PS3 and Xbox One versions, 1080p, if I'm not mistaken.

Adsolution wrote:I completely agree with the above, especially about how the mechanics in Legends aren't made good use of. It's not a retcon of any previous opinion of mine either, a few things explained:
- I never thought the story in Origins was well-executed (it wasn't that complicated, yet the game somehow managed to make it confusing, likely as a result of it being the adaption of a hefty script), but it at least existed to a basic degree. Legends gives you objectives but no context, like mentioned above. It wouldn't really be a problem if there wasn't anything new in the game, but I'm genuinely curious as to what the Magician's motivation is here or what the hell he's doing.
- Despite having criticised Origins' direction, I always commended the gameplay on being outrageously fun. It lacked variety at times, but it was one of the most genuinely challenging games I'd played in a while. Legends, unlike Origins, doesn't cater to the mechanics of the character, it ignores them for the most part and it figures that as long as your player is able to somehow get through the level, it's alright. It's not bad when you have so many mediocre games to compare it to, it just felt like a lot less effort was put into the level design, and it's clear how much effort was put into it with Origins.
However, I do like the art of Legends more than Origins. While both only have a few truly atmospheric music tracks, I was happy to find that the few surreal, fantastical environments from Origins that I wished there were more of were present far, far more in Legends. I'm mainly thinking about that level in the Sea of Serendipity where there's all that giant, organic, bioluminescent, colourful plant life; that was probably my favourite environment in the entire game.
I quite agree with most of the points Ad and Bionichute have presented. The level design in RO was far more tight and had better rhythm and flow than that of RL, but again the stages of RL were more designed around co-op play, as opposed to fast-paced and challenging platforming precision. For me, the environments of RL were more atmospheric than those of RO, with a few exceptions. I also found the soundtrack of RL to be vastly superior than that of RO, I can't say a cared much for the majority of Rayman Origins' OST. As for story, both games are pathetically bare-bones, but at least RO actually had a reason for your objective.
It's difficult to say which game is the better of the two, as I find them both quite mediocre, but at least Rayman Origins didn't have any cheap diversions or "filler" content, if you will, to make the game pointlessly larger. Through my entire playthrough of Living Dead Party and the Back To Origin's levels, I kept repeating to myself, "Why is this here? What is it's reason to exist?" As a matter of fact, I apply that set of questions to the whole game itself, because it clearly has nothing exceptional or worthwhile to offer players, especially those who had to endure the nearly seven month delay.
Also, to confirm Master's post, yes, all of the console and PC versions of RL run at 1080p with 60FPS

I think most of Legend's gameplay issues probably are due to its initial Wii U exclusivity, it makes sense for the levels to be less frantic if there's another touch controlled player having to keep up, I'd assume. I don't mind the eased up platforming, as I do feel that Origins had some moments where everything just went by without the opportunity to sit back and drink up the level itself, but I do feel that they still felt somewhat more dynamic than Legends. Soundtrackwise, yeah, I'll say that Legends has the edge, but in all honesty, I still think my overall favourite tracks still lie in the original trilogy.
In terms of what I feel about the two as a whole, I think they're good games. Most issues that I have with them come more from context and how they compare to previous Rayman titles, brushing those aside, the levels are fun enough to blast through, and the co-op works well also. The issues I have here stem with how the games decide to present the later more difficult levels, some of the DarkRay invasion levels were controller-throwingly aggravating, so much so that Co-op was essentially in getting through quickly. Origins had the later Treasure Chest chases, but I think they relied more on rhythm than having to frantically move about. And of course, there's the grand finale, both had somewhat weak final bosses, but at least Origins had a good and unique final level as opposed to rehashes and cheap effects.
Hm, so 1080p is right then? Okedoke.

Wow, you are really upset, Rayrobi. I had no idea you bought the new port but if the quality is equal and there are only adaptations to the controller then it is surely a waste of money. *Hugs my Wii U*

The PS4/Xbox One ports are just there for people who hadn't already bought the game. It wasn't supposed to be an upgrade, they just added a few features to compliment the new systems (such as the Camera Mode on PS4).
Graphics wise, there is no upgrade, unless you are coming from PS3, Xbox 360, or Vita. And even then, only the resolution is improved (the 360 and PS3 versions of Legends run at upscaled 1080p and the Vita version runs on the Vita's native resolution. The Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions can run at native 1080p, which is better than upscaled 1080p).

Theres a lesson to be learned from this. Don't buy a game you already own.... unless you lost it.
Basically, this confirms Ancel is working on a triple-A 3D title, meaning there won't be any 2D Rayman sequel anytime soon (unless they put a different director on it).
This probably means Beyond Good & Evil 2 (or maybe Rayman 4?). And I'm totally fine with that!

Oooh, please be Beyond Good & Evil 2! As much as I think a Rayman 3D sequel would be great, BG&E actually needs its sequel.
