Okay, now we see people haven't looked through the past pages. Rayman Legends is confirmed to be a Wii U exclusive, so that's for sure at them moment and there's no possible argument for it as of now.

Now my opinion:

I'm totally blown away by the game. It looks way better than Rayman Origins did. Having to rescue Teensies is awesome, and I wonder if they'll change their appearance in each world like in R3. I actually prefer them over Electoons. The new color scheme is epic, and makes a more serious and mysterious athmosphere and I love that. The pirate Lividstones don't look really creative to me, though. However, the new LotLD looks completely amazing, and the bumper eyes look really R2-ish and fit the place really well. I start to think that place will be where Jano is.

Im scared that i'll buy a Wii U for rayman legends then a few weeks later ubisoft cheekily announces it for every other console abit like what they did with the 3ds/vita and PC ports of origins :(

If you say that R2 for PS1 is the worst port then you never touched this:

Image

It is by far the worst Rayman 2 port that exists. It is really screwed up because it intended to be a release title of the DS console. Playing this game in an original DS is a bonus to evaluate how badly it was done, since the Lite version and posterior DS consoles "minimize" the mistakes.

Did you play the one on IOS? That port was almost unplayable due to the horrific touch screen controls, I couldn't even get past the marsh's of awakening LOL then a year later I got the 3DS port and that controlled beautifully an underrated port imo, though I'm sure they could have made it a port of rayman revolution just look how well ocarina of time translated to the 3DS! :P

I'm looking forward to getting this game. I never imagined an adventure where Rayman, Globox AND Murfy tackle the whole game. Anyway, I bet it'd be possible to change Murfy's character like you could change characters in Origins. Hopefully they have more than different outfits for him, because I would LOVE to play as Andre in Murfy's place.

I also like how the dragons have collars. Its like they're the pirate Lividstones' pets. Also, expanding on the Land of the Livid Dead is a GREAT idea.

There could have been a mistranslation in Poix's interview, or the website itself could have made a mistake. I'm waiting for an official source to confirm this potential Wii U exclusivity.

Andé here wouldn0t make much sense. André is a bad guy and he'd never help Rayman. Plus, André was transformed back into a Red Lum in the end of Rayman 3.

Also those purple lums seem to work like the red ones in Origins. I think I will try to get a Wii U for this game. Plus, Wii U looks good so far, I guess I'll have to watch it in E3.

Actually I have. The music is absolutely awful! I did have quite a bit of fun with it though, playing as far as The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. It was playable, but a little messed up. Plus, I heard about the infamous glitch that's on the Stone and Fire level that kind of made me want to stop playing. I should really start a proper save game on Revolution and star again :mryellow:

Could those bare resemblance to the surreal art piece you've posted a few times, with the sepia tone and the animals high in the sky, walking across the orange land with ridiculously long, spindly legs?
That occurred to me too, but I figured it was probably a coincidence.

It totally does. Do you really wish it had been a visually sub-standard but otherwise exact replica of the PC version?
Haruka wrote:@Spiral I had no idea that it was possible to write something in the Latest News section of the portal, I thought it was Administrators' exclusive. Or are you the only moderator that can do that?
Hunch was in a rush last night, so he asked me to send him a quick write-up of the night’s news. I’m still kicking myself for using the word ‘character’ twice in the same sentence, but I guess that’s what happens when you don’t have time to proof-read.

RayFan9876 wrote:They already removed as much detail as charmingly possible. Look at poor Rayman, his nose is a hexagon and his feet and hands are basically triangles. You'll also notice that a lot of the environmental assets are actually missing. Many of the textures are also a lower resolution.
Hhhm, I don't think that's due to less detail, they have just given Rayman much more angular features lately. Remember when he had a round nose? XD
That depends on what you mean by ‘lately’. The most recent time I can remember Rayman having a round nose is 1999.
Hunchman801 wrote:I actually find the PlayStation port much better than Rayman Revolution, which clearly shows I do not value visuals over content. While the former was reduced in content, it remained a cohesive whole, which wasn't the case with the latter, in which they messed up levels, screwed up their names and added others that did not fit in the rest of the game. I'm being harsh with what I consider an excellent game, but it was just bad compared to the original Rayman 2.
I definitely agree. The developers of the PlayStation port respected the structure and tone of the original version. They condensed, streamlined, grafted and redesigned levels as necessary, but they never omitted them, or chopped them up and mixed them about. They included an interesting new take on many aspects of the game, and added a huge amount of content compared to the other porting teams, some of which (eg, the 2D prototype level) is just fantastic for any Rayman fan, and well outside the boundaries of what you’d have any reason to expect.

Neither did you read my post, which was actually based on the discussions presented on the previous pages.
Shrooblord wrote:Also, for the discussion of this game being Wii-U exclusive, I think we're all misinterpreting the text that was quoted. I believe they meant this version of RL is to become Wii-U exclusive, what with the touch pad controls, Murfy and all those other aspects that couldn't be possible with other consoles. Also, if it is Wii-U exclusive now, there's bound to be a port some time in the future - I mean, come on; how long have you been Rayman fans? You should know by now that porting is just as much an aspect of a Rayman game as the game itself is. ... OK, weird comparisson, but you get my point.
Hunchman801 wrote:It sure is. Some people care a lot about the coherence of the game, while others just want to enjoy nice gameplay and graphics. I was disturbed by the way the levels were screwed up in Revolution, but I can understand that not everyone considers this a major issue.
Finally someone who expresses the exact point of view I share! I like Revolution for what it is; many of the detailing is quite nice. I really enjoyed the lava rivers in the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava (bastardised to 'Lava Sanctuary'), but, and this is a strong contradiction indeed, I did not at all enjoy how they messed up most of the levels by jumbling up their order, or even simply cutting and pasting entirely different levels together and omitting some key parts in levels that I found most memorable.
Electoon wrote:Actually I have. The music is absolutely awful!
It's quite OK if you've been trying to remake game music in MIDI format yourself; you can appreciate the work that's been done in it, but you can definately note how it pales in comparisson to the original.

Also, redirecting to that Wii-U issue, I more strongly believe this now:
Hunchman801 wrote:There could have been a mistranslation in Poix's interview, or the website itself could have made a mistake. I'm waiting for an official source to confirm this potential Wii U exclusivity.
It's a good point that there may have been a mistranslation or maybe even a mistake on their part as well. And if it's not, then I'm sure the game will be ported later on. Just wait it out.

Oh wow that's hideous! It's even got the little button on the side with the rounded-cornered-square in the middle that's iconic to 'i-devices'. And why would you want to have a smaller replica of the bigger screen anyway? Doesn't the Wii-U screen at least give you some more close-up or detailed view of the game, so it gets presented in two ways (one on the big screen and a different one on the little screen you hold)?

Oh, I don’t know, maybe because they gave us heaps of brand-new content to enjoy rather than a crappy retread of an objectively superior PC game?

I'd still rather have all the original content, and the superior level design by Ancel's team, which was simplified in many cases in the PS1 port. Would have been much better than what we got.

I'm liking this actually.
The Lividstone ambush with parachutes and ladders extremely reminds me of Revolution.
