I was very surprised to meet Acarr in the IRC.

And I came up with a funny reason as to why I joined soon after she 'disappeared'.

RayFan, I'm looking into microphones in more detail and I found two mics I may be interested in. They're both USB mics of the same make, but they're different models.
The mics in question are the SL150 and the SL300, both from 'EditorsKeys'. The difference between the two is mainly that one has only a unidirectional setting, whereas the other one can switch to an omnidirectional one too, which may be useful for recording certain other things (recording a piano works well with this, so I've heard). I was wondering, since you're really into recording and using weird effects on ordinary sounds to create your sound effects, if you could tell me if these settings would be sufficient for similar means. Mainly I'd like to record speech and song, but perhaps, once I have it, I might get interested in recording other things. What do you think?

I would probably choose the SL300, the unidirectional one for what you're trying to do. Even for things such as piano I would suggest unidirectional, because then you get the noise cancellation from the other end, which gives a more pure and unified sound. The only time I would suggest omnidirectional is if you're recording multiple things at the same time with one mic, or if you're recording the great outdoors.

OK. The SL300 has a unidirectional and omnidirectional setting. So if I picked that, I could do both, which is only a plus, right? I did see one review from someone where the SL300 had some kind of off static running all the time, but the video's creator did note it may be his equipment was faulty. And even so, I could just record like half a minute of 'silence', picking up only the background noise, and then just copy-paste that over each other for the full length of whatever I'm doing, except in reverse phase to cancel out the static noise, right? I mean, isn't static a certain form of sinusoidal wave?
Also, you say you would get the SL300, but I should get the SL150 - is this because you're more focussed on the other uses of the microphone as opposed to singing and recording just speech?

Just wanted to leave this here:

Who else is thinking: Boon stamp?
PS
RayFan, it would be really nice if you could reply to my previous post; the mic's supposed to be my birthday present, and my birthday's next Monday, so... I'd apprectiate your view greatly.
