Oh, btw... I'm not really sure about HD scaling for all games. Most of the games look the same, but since you use an HD cable for those, the games actually look smoother on a big screen while using a Wii U than a Wii.

No.. that comparison isn't even similar. Maybe you intended to say that Gamecube games worked with the Classic Controller and the Wii Remote... but that isn't the case. The games weren't programmed to work with next gen controllers... because at that point those controls didn't even exist. Gamecube games were made to be played with the gamecube controller, Wii games were made to be played with Wii remotes, and since the Gamecube controllers already existed, they decided to add them as an option. Same goes for the Wii U, you can play some Wii U games with the controllers from the previous gen (Wii), but you can't play Wii games with the Gamepad because these games weren't programmed to be played with the gamepad.

Other consoles don't have this problem because in most of the cases, the controller is the exact same thing. However, I don't know how do you intend to play Super Mario Galaxy with your gamepad... by shaking the gamepad and grabbing starbits with the non-existent pointer.
