I remember climbing out of a pool in Spain when I was a little kid after having a very nasty near-death experience and then a wasp came by and stung me in the arm for good measure. Wasps are dicks.

+ Had a slow start but I'm really getting into this Quantum Mechanics stuff. Things have started... falling into place (dammit emsh was right).

- As a kid I never understood why wasps... were. They just seemed like asshole bees. (I had a good relationship with bees.) So to explain their existence I surmised that they must be mystic guardians of the spaces between the worlds.

Seriously though, bees know better than to sting you. Unless they're in real deep shit and they may as well take you with them (their reasoning) or they need to protect their hive and sacrifice themselves for it, bees will not poke you in the arm. But wasps, aggressive dildos, they can just sting and sting and sting - and they know it too!

Yeah, the Spain thing has been a defining point in my life. It's made me aware just how powerful the drive to survival can be. With noone around to save me, it really was me I had to rely on to get myself back out of that pool or it would have been over. Has anyone seen Gravity? The ending scene where [Sandra Bullock climbs back on to land after crashing into the ocean, the way she walked, the way she looked and the emotion that must have been running through her (as the character ofc)], it was so relatable that all I could do watching that scene was feel an intense joy and - no fear admitting that - cry. It was beautiful. It's perhaps that one scene that made the film, to me, one step up from 'good' to 'slam dunk home run grade-A movie'.

How old were you when that happened, if you don't mind me asking? That must have been terrifying, yet also, so affirmative to have survived.

Hm. So it was the Summer when Dragostea Din Tei had just blown up because it was on the radio everywhere and all the time (also in my head) - so that was the Summer of 2003 or 2004. I presume around 8 or 9 years old, then!

When we came back, I promptly went on swimming classes again (I'd quit for a while) to finish those and I was left with a traumatic fear of water and nightmares about drowning for a good few years after. But that's all over now. I don't have nightmares anymore.

Well that's something at least! Yeah, I remember you mentioning you had a fear of water. At least it doesn't follow you into your dreams

- Almost crashed into a boy who suddenly jumped to the street without looking I was coming.

Oh, no. By that I also meant that my fear has been resolved. I can properly swim now.

I once was, yes. But not anymore. As far as I'm aware, I've bested all my feary foes (except vertigo when standing on a rackety bridge fifty meters tall only two feet away from the edge to the left with no suitable railing high enough to protect you from a gust of wind and a busy three lane car highway a foot away to your right where heavy lorries rush around and make the entire thing shake while in a foreign country while it's windy).

Big nah. < didn't need to travel over bridges to go see him. In fact, he's such a champ, he always drove me to and from his place when we met!

(-) Having a really awful day, just discovered a former friend of mine had fucked me over in a deal and took the money and ran.
I feel stupid for ever trusting this person, and for the next few months I'll be hitting myself in the head over it.... I can't do anything I fear but move on.
