I don't particularly suggest Iron Man 2.

Actually, I don't suggest anything, they all suck.

Iron Man 2 was mediocre.

Everything is mediocre. I only go to the movies for popcorn with white cheddar.

I like the special effects.

Iron Man 2 has too much talking, not enough explosions and women in bikinis.

When you view it as a standalone film, yes. But that’s not what it is.

I've never seen the first one but people do say it's better.

I am not talking about its sequel status. I am talking about its place in a grand scheme.

What grand scheme?

Inter-film continuity. All of Marvel Studios’ films are set within the same universe and contain many references to each other. There will be crossovers.

I simply love references and crossovers.

But how does IM2 fit into it?

Most of the dialogue and screentime given to supporting characters that Iron Man 2 has received criticism for is meant to lay the groundwork for The Avengers.

Iron Man 2 served its purpose well. It will all become clear in time.

I don't see it, but if they do make it work it'll be epic.
