Sort of. It is part of the new gen with PS4 and XB1 and so far Wii U is far surpassing both of them, but I think it seriously would've been a better idea if Nintendo just waited instead of immediately rushing out the Wii U. Maybe try to catch a glimpse at what there rivals are doing? I like my Wii U but I think that if Nintendo took more time with it, it could be even more of a graphical powerhouse. Hell, look what's happening with the 3DS, it's now getting a graphical upgrade, and it damn well should, Pokemon X/Y had a lot of framerate issues in 3D, and remember the horrible framerate in the Rayman Origins port? Chances are a lot of those could be fixed. I have a feeling that Nintendo will end up releasing a new Wii U model which will be graphically better, just my thoughts. I'm noticing this whole type of "Ah shit we fucked up" trend lately with big companies. Look at Microsoft, they not only removed that kinect nobody wanted, but in addition gave us a better Xbox One, performance wise. Seems Nintendo is now doing the same.

Also 10,000th post, awesome.
Actually, I discovered recently that the fact Nintendo is always behind in hardware specs is actually an intentional practice. They call it, "Lateral Thinking with Withered Technology". Basically, it's a way of forcing themselves to make the most of their hardware and still make the best games, not solely relying on the merits of the system itself, and making sure developers are actually thinking about how to push and innovate the hardware they have. The theory started with Gunpei Yokoi when he was making the Gameboy.

I actually think it's a great thing as it forces them to come up with more innovations than "the graphics are better this time", such as the Wii U GamePad. Competing to have the best specs in the console market is a pointless practice, because PC is always there, and in all honesty, the average consumer cares not about the specs, but just that the games look good. Nintendo succeeds at doing this with their impeccable art direction either way, so why waste time and money on a spec race not many people actually give a damn about?

Well I never particularly said what Nintendo did was a bad thing. I actually am one of the very few people who think this new 3DS is a good idea, because I think the 3DS needed this graphical upgrade.

I can agree that it is somewhat of a pointless practice, but there are a lot of casual gamers out there who want to stick to mainly one console for next gen and because of it, they miss out on a lot of great games.

...you wouldn't be part of a few.

The entire Smash Bros community and Monster Hunter community are going to put out money for that extra C-stick alone, not to mention the other upgrades like ZR and ZL buttons. Plus, better CPU is always a good thing.

Hey, I recognise that Rayman 1 drawing on the book from that French interview video thing with Michel Ancel. It was one of a few development sketches for Rayman 1. I know this because I spend many consecutive hours staring at each individual piece of Rayman 1 related artwork I come across. hang on, lemme find the image I'm talking about.

Edit: Here you go, friends.

So, uh, I'm really wondering if this book will do anything for the continuity of the series or if it will just talk about the history of the games. But since this is the Rayman Legends thread, perhaps a new thread may be made to talk about the book?

I remember that sketch to have been seen before around the Rare Pictures Thread.

The book topic doesn't seem a bad idea by the way.

Bought it too. Fortunately I won't have it sent to the US, as I am about to get overwhelmed by all the souvenirs I got there.

Hmm, with the release of the PS4 and Xbox One versions, the current poll is a bit non-inclusive. As such, I'm going to replace it now with the favourite version polls. But not to fear, I've archived the results of this poll:

I find it strange that PC "won" like that.
