Ack, I'd hate to even attempt record day with a smart phone keyboard. If anything, my phone will be a backup internet source for my computer.
I mean don't get me wrong, I like the keyboard on my laptop, but it's pretty hard to beat a nice mechanical keyboard still, where I could type quicker on with less issues. Then of course a mouse to have ready for the submit button.
*EDIT*
Or I could just hit tab twice.

1. The day lasts 24 hours, you will use the vast majority of it if you want loads of posts, but keep energized, that means plenty of food + coffee. Also don't piss yourself; that's disgusting
2. Mainly post in the popular threads, if activity in them drop start bumping other topics
3. Don't spam, you'll get your ting and post count deducted so it's not worth it
4. Only multi-tab if you can keep up with both of them, chances are you'll find youself mostly on one of the tabs, or at least I find it that way.
5. Post less, it means you can expand on it for the next post, but again not so little that it can be classed as spam
There's 5 tips then.

However, I must use my desktop computer, due to me liking the mechanical keyboard to type with, giving a nicer advantage over the laptop.
Hey, can we go on some topic and do 300 posts in one day? I want to beat Omar in post number.

Well, topics like the you game would work, this or that, and a few other common ones... you just got to type a decent post that makes sense quick, not spam, and post fast, and go to the next. No double posting of course.
It can be done, you just have to keep on top of it. However I am about to head home so my activity can't be quick for 25 minutes on my phone.

Getting a large amount of posts in an ordinary fashion isn't too hard if you chain post in conjunction with someone else, me and Hoodcom have done it a few times in This or That and the You Game.
In Record Day however, don't blindly press the submit button, double posting is still a likelihood, but in an extremely popular thread, like the You Game, the likelihood of there being another post after your previous one is rather high.
Serza's tips are true, don't waste time making large posts or looking for images or videos to embed, just post away in a decent legitimate fashion.

On that note it's also not recommended to talk one-on-one with someone in a very busy topic. Sure you can just quote them but there's a good chance they'll reply and you'll miss it.

So to boil it down, make simplistic isolated posts, and keep an eye out for more active threads, the higher the opportunity for a post, the better.

Wow, Record Day has become such a sport here that people are actually making strategies for getting the most posts. That's something I've never seen before.

Nah, I take it all in fun, but a little friendly rivalry between members never hurt anyone, most here do it for the laughs, and most of these techniques you kindof integrate as you go by.

I'll definitely keep those advices in mind.
As for the Wordchain game ( which seemed quite popular on RD ), it was more like a spam topic because people were just typing post one after another without paying attention to post made just seconds ago, which made the topic a complete spam fest, what we really don't need on RD and anyway. And howewer it helped increasing the counter, it's good to have it closed.

I think the You Game is probably the best for Record Day, simple to understand and play, yet allows for some decent posting.

The
real competition is everyone versus last year's total posts... just aim to do your best so the entire community wins.

I wonder how long would it last that we can still beat the previous year's record and how many post would seem impossible to accomplish. As this community grows, it still might be some years though.

Hmm, perhaps I should collect data and see if there is a trend or pattern emerging, though I don't really feel like being a statistician at the moment.

Yes. Marklar and I have had several nights already of looking out of the window, going 'oh, it's sunrise now. Better go off to bed then, TROLOLO', so pulling off an all-nighter (especially with my good friend there with me) won't be that hard, I expect. My only fear is that my off-and-on amazing-lousy internet will fail me.
Matyuv wrote:Oh man, was it really 18673 posts? That's going to be quite the challenge.
I remember when we were like a couple of thousands of posts away and only two hours left, and we were all going "There's no way we'll beat it", but then we slammed the old record into the wall!
Haven't all Record Days been 'succesful' in that they've beaten the previous records?

I like how I can get my troll on on Record Day.
I'd like to get to at least Foutch because of Record Day.

Hm. I'd need to rise in 20,000 Tings to do that. Sounds feasible.

A nice trick to get a couple hundred bonus messages is pre-posting. This basically consists in opening scores and scores of tabs during the evening before record day, typing a reply to a different topic in each of them and submitting them all when the record starts.

I live in a town not too far off it.

How many tabs can be opened? Hmm I never tried. Well it is time to find out

I constantly have 40+ open because I keep want to remind myself to check some of them out but then open more and forget about the old ones.
