Rayman Pirate-Community

The letter was actually about having him as DLC or having him considered for future Smash titles. I do suppose not acting now would be a good choice. I've been in some fan campaigns in the past, and starting too early or too late could be the death of a campaign.

The only thing I ponder over regarding Smash DLC is whether or not Sakurai would be involved at all. He's got a severe cases of calcific tendinitis, so I would imagine he'd want to leave stressful game development alone for at least a bit.

Furthermore, PS-All Stars had DLC, including characters, that was not created by the original developers of the game, so I wonder if Sakurai will just leave any post-release content in the hands of Bandai Namco staff? They'd already understand the engine (in fact, making the engine is the only confirmed involvement they have on the game), so I think adding a little bit of new content could work without heavy involvement from Sakurai himself. I imagine he could still dictate exactly what characters get into the game.

Being as Rayman is my second favorite character of all time, and also my second most wanted character in Smash, who I previously only thought to be a pipe dream, I'm throwing everything I've got into supporting him in any fashion. Particularly since my most wanted character is impossible...

I highly doubt that he'll be in the game at release (playable, anyway), as it seems extremely odd for Sakurai to just show a trophy of a third party character without announcing them as being playable. Then again, this is the only time we've ever got a random third party trophy without any relation to a playable guest, which is even stranger. He did show Toon Link as a background character on a stage before later confirming him to be playable again, so you never know..

A particularly odd thing is how casually Sakurai addressed it, as if it were a normal thing for Rayman to be there.

I don't see the trophy reveal as a deconfirmation of him being in the vanilla game as a fighter. I know characters who are confirmed as trophies are usually just that or Assist Trophy at best. However, Sakurai has broken many perceived patterns, and has revealed many characters in unexpected ways (Rosalina's "it's actually a Kirby game/Mario Kart 8" trailer, anyone? Or Pac-Man being revealed at a closed event, with the public getting the scoop via liveblogging, only to get a trailer a few hours later?). So Rayman can easily be suddenly revealed later on, his trophy appearance could be there to fool us into thinking he is no more than a trophy.

Going back to the previous topic, if your serious about supporting Rayman as DLC. Along with setting up a petition, starting groups, writing letters, etc. I can only advise getting as much people as possible behind the idea, and keeping it organized. If you can make a serious campaign about having Rayman in as DLC, I've got your back.

I also would definitely help and keep at it for years if necessary.

Yeah, it came up on my Facebook news feed, from the official Super Smash Bros Facebook page, just now. I guess it's been updated.

With the clearer picture, he definitely looks like he has as overgrown teeth. First model was way better.

Well, it's more consistent with the recent style anyway.
