Guys, we made a lot of things in this whole subject of modding. Now I waiting for someone who copy Rayman 2 textures from DC to PC version, which they are higher. I don't have so much time to go deeper in this subject currently. Pity.

Sadly my "skills" stop there so I won’t be able to help on this, but it would be awesome to see this.
Rayman Revolution being the best version of Rayman 2, it would be great if the PCSX2 emulator gets the same function as Dolphin where we can overclock the emulated CPU/GPU to have constant 60 fps on a game that has variable frame rate. Because the poor performance of this game kinda ruins it.

I haven’t tried in a while but does the game run at constant 60 fps if you have a good enough CPU ? Because it should only emulate the game as it actually runs on the PS2 hardware, unless you trick the game by telling it that the PS2 CPU is clocked 2 or 3 times higher.
I have an i7 4930K @ 4.5 GHz.

Yes, that is in the latest development builds of PCSX2 IIRC.

I just tried out the Rayman M widescreen patch, it looks like it doesn't detect the CD

I had the exact same problem on Windows 8.1, none of the fixes I found on the Web worked for me so I gave up. On the other hand it works on Windows 10, just have to run the game as Admin or it will not launch.
Try this out, maybe it’ll work : right click on the Start menu > Programs and features > Turn Windows features on or off > Legacy components > enable DirectPlay and hit OK.
This did the trick when I couldn’t launch Rayman 3 on Windows 10.

Same thing happened to me when trying the patch

Was the widescreen exe from the 2CD version or the 10th anniversary version if that makes any difference?

Is the DRM-free executable has been modified Shadorino, or CD-check protected?
Maybe exists DRM-free .exe, as in GOG version of R2, and this modified one will work fine.

The one I use is on the GoG version.
