Hey New Dawn Games Team,
I hope you're well? Just a few questions to keep you on your feet:
1. When is your goal to finish development and have this game available for the community?
2. How is progress and development coming along?
3. What version of Rayman 2 are you faithfully trying to recreate?
4. What problems and challenges have you faced in development?
Really looking forward to this and am a huge fan. This is my most anticipated fan project. I love you all. - Rayman Together
Hey! Thank you for your questions!
1. We can't really estimate the development time quite yet. I wouldn't count on the release date earlier than 2025.
2. I'd say it's been going nicely. Each team is focused on doing their part towards reaching a milestone. We've also recruited new people lately, so we're pretty excited to see their contributions to the project.
3. Dreamcast version is the base of all levels, but we're taking the best stuff out of other versions and combining them together. That includes PS1 version

4. I'd say the biggest challenge for me was refining the art style, making sure each artist understands it and that new assets stay consistent style-wise. Not to mention the several technical issues we've encountered, from engine bugs, optimization problems to multiplatform development issues, but I'm sure we'll resolve them. :]

Hello there. Here are my questions.
1. I'm really curious about the combat system. Is Rayman going to shoot like he did in Rayman 2, is he going to throw his punch or will you be able to alternate both attack patterns?
2. Will you include the cinematics we could see in the original game?
3. Just some curiosity... Has anyone from Ubisoft contacted you because of this fangame?
I wish you the best for the future and good luck with the development
Hey there! I'm one of the programmers on the R2HD team and am happy to answer questions.
1. Rayman's combat system will remain the same as it was in the original game where Rayman throws the silver lums at the start of the game and they gradually increase in power as you progress through the story. We are working on making the combat more engaging with a smarter enemy AI system that will predict movements and actions. The fluidity of the combat is also very important to us, so we're working hard on getting all of the animations and timings of the combat to feel perfect when playing.
2. We are! The same cutscenes are going to be recreated in Unreal Engine. We will be keeping them as close to the original as possible but there may be some modifications here and there.
3. Nobody from Ubisoft has contacted us at this time.

I only had one question, but I think Rayman Together beat me to that one (which version you guys would have used), and I like the idea of taking the best ideas from each game and placing it in R2 HD. I'm glad you guys are still going strong and I can't wait to see how the finished game plays out!

Hello!
You can't image how excited I'm about this project! Here are some things I was wondering about:
1. Which level/levels would you consider doing for a possible demo?
2. You've mentioned once that you're going to make a unique level selection for the HD version, which Rayman port will it be most reminiscent of?
3. Are there any plans for additional content outside of what can be seen in the base game ?

1. One of the first level: The Fairy Glade
2. A cross between Revolution and the Dreamcast version.
3. We must keep some surprises

I am curious about the art style change. Can you tell us what is your inspiration and if it will be different in some ways from the original?

We're trying to stay as closely to the original as possible, but adapting to the modern PBR workflow required some redesigning. We're taking inspiration from the original Rayman 2, obviously, Studio Ghibli movies, as well as modern remakes, like Spyro and Crash.

We're targeting PCs with Windows and Linux at the moment. Any DX11 GPU should work with the game :]

I don’t exactly have questions, but I’d like to stop in to say the work of the team is extremely commendable and I wish you all nothing but the best on this endeavor!

I wouldn't be myself if I, a fanboy, didn't support Linux! Nvidia drivers and Unreal's Vulkan implementation definitely don't make it easy, though.
