Rayman Pirate-Community

Kinda. My cousin, who introduced me to Rayman 1 in the first place. Then there's this guy at school who loves Rayman. But he plays Origins and Legends more and doesn't remember much of the old stuff. He didn't even recognize my Mister Dark drawing! Hmph!

He and I often get into heated discussions, given that he loves Origins and I DESPISE it with the heat of a thousand suns. (He even offered to.buy it for me for Christmas, since i told him i would never waste my money on that game.)

Also, I went to a costume party recently dressed as Rayman, and I was wearing a blonde wig, and one guy looked at me and said "Doesn't Rayman have red hair? " I SO resisted the urge to bang my head against a blunt object.

In my milieu there aren't even any videogame-fans... That really sucks ._.

Also, how the fuck do you despise Origins? It's not the original trilogy, but it's still a fucking awesome game, especially for a reboot. Most consider it to be the best platformer of 2011, in addition.

It's not a reboot, it's a sequel to the original trilogy.

1. He does know the original trilogy. He just doesn't remember it too well. So I suppose it's reasonable.

2. Yes, I guess I did overexaggerate my hatred. There are certain aspects of it I like. But the negatives outweigh the positives for me.

3. I do not enjoy swype type at all. I miss texting with thumbs on an actual keyboard!! I'd rather take my chances with a dumb touch screen keyboard, because from personal past experience, swype type bites.

I can understand that, but it's still a very good game in my opinion. It's not the original trilogy, though.

No, because Rayman 2 only came out a few years after Rayman 1, when the game was still relatively popular, and it was officially labelled as Rayman 2. As Origins is more of a non-serious game unconnected the original trilogy, I consider it to be a spin-off of the original trilogy, not as something that should be considered canon to the series.

The reason I brought up Rayman 2 was because how radically different the universe was compared to the one in Rayman 1. I consider Origins and Legends canon, but I don't want the "overly wacky, insane, goofy" style to stick with the series, just something for those two games.

Since Origins and Legends are not connected to the original trilogy, I have a great deal of difficulty considering them to be canon. I can understand why people do, but I don't think that Origins and Legends were designed to be the legitimate Rayman 4 and Rayman 5. I consider them to be part of another sub-branch in the Rayman series, not as part of the original trilogy.

I don't think they're Rayman 4 and Rayman 5 either, just games in the main series. Sonic CD isn't Sonic 3, yet it's the third entry in the main series.

I have just one friend who likes Rayman. But it's better than nothing.

He was coming over to my house and when he arrived, I was playing the final battle against Reflux in Rayman 3 (first phase I think). Then he became a fan. And we also founded a two-member private fan club . The End
I don't know what he thinks nowadays though...

And then there's my brother. Not too crazy about them but he plays them occasionally.

I do have a friend who at least likes the games a bit and I did convince him to buy Rayman Origins
But no, I guess I don't really have those friends, I wish I had though, I could talk about Rayman aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall day long and night ofcourse, and noon... and dawn... and midnight... and dusk... anyways, I think you get the point.

I had one friend who also liked Rayman when I was younger, but he moved away, and we have not met after that. My other friends don't like Rayman that much, but at least they know what I am talking about.

Everyone that I know enjoys Origins/Legends.

They are not part of the original trilogy merely because a trilogy can only consist of three entries. But Origins and Legends are part of the main canon. Which is the same canon the original entries of the series belong to. Origins is literally referred to as "the long awaited sequel" to Rayman 3 in a lot of promotional material. And while I will be the first to admit that promotional material is not always correct when figuring out correct continuity (Sonic-related thing), in this case, the claim does not contradict anything.

Granted, in a franchise like Rayman, this means little in the grand scheme of things.

I can relate with you, my friend also says he loves RO and RL more than the original series, just for being too hard for him. Well he did try out 1 & 2.
