I'm sure we all know what I'm talking about: it's based off of a line of toys made by Hasbro, intended for little girls. It got a cartoon based off of it, one that was 20% cooler than any of the cartoons based off of it in the past (if you catch my meme-ridden drift), which has somehow managed to gain respect from older, male fans. Now, some of you may already hate the show without having seen it, though I assure you that it's quite decent.
I (sadly) agree.

This show is really great. Well, it's intended to a young audience (… a female young audience…), but it's clearly well done. Most of the actual cartoons show for children disgust me : they're Manichean, simpleton, "politically correct", not original, and a little bit boring… I grew up with Tiny Toons, Animaniacs (thanks a lot, Spielberg !), Merries Melody, Looney Toons, Tex Avery, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, and a lot of Nicholodeon's show… THAT was real cartoons ! :3
MLP is maybe not as excellent as that shows were. But… It's enjoyable ! A little bit crazy, fun, with a great style… It's admonitory, yes, but not too stupid or consensual. There aren't morals such as "stealing is a bad idea", "lying is for liars", "be nice", "don't copy that floppy", "bad stuffs are bad". The messages delivered by each episodes are simple, given without subtlety (it's easy to guess it from the beginning of an episode), but a little bit intelligent.

And characters are
real characters ! *_* They're archetypes (kindness, generosity, sincerity, laugh, loyalty, and… magic!? hax!), but they're become more and more complex along the episodes. Not really deep, but interesting enough to be surprised by their behavior and make some fans to write comics or fics about them (the magic of memes).
Finally, this show can be enjoyed by a dad with his girl.

That's quite impressing. Lauren Faust made a really, really good job. I wouldn't guess that a so excellent show could be invented from the Hasrbo's toys (that represented everything that I hate in the toys and children-cartoon marketing).
There's just one problem :
I haven't any children, and I don't want to have one. So… I have no reasonable excuse to explain my enthusiast for this show.

What do you want, it's a great pastime, after all… And memes around it are fun (yay). It's cool, sometime, to forget "serious things", and watch a piece of naivety. :3 Not as appreciable as an "adult" movie, but quite fun… Yep, just "fun". It's enough.^^
And anyway, as I said, I grew up with cartoons. It wasn't to give up cartoons once I become student !
Whatever, I also discovered
Adventure Time recently, and that's totally awesome ! =D
Silly, mindfuck, hilarious… I really love it ! \o/
