The only things about the model that would have to be changed to make it look normal again are making the eyes bigger and the lips green:
Quick, crappy shop. Not much of a deal though.

Because Ly was African-American in Rayman 2.
No, but she clearly had Asian traits: the way her eyes curve and that distinctive, sharp cheekbone and maybe more that I can't think of right now.

Brilliant finds Britta!
As confusing as the storyboards are to follow, I really, really like the look of the first coloured panel in the second link.

Great finds! Someone should try to grab the pictures since I can't.
The storyboard designs are pretty bizarre, knowing the final product.

Which characters did Roz and Fudge become in the final version?

Taking a wild guess that Roz is an early Betina [man she's actually human here, though still very out of place] and that Fudge is Cookie.
Wow it's no wonder the final version became a mess, judging by how off it is despite it being really well drawn I can see that the whole project was doomed from the start. Oh and my boyfriend just pointed out that this guy worked on Aliens in the Attic which is apparently also a mess too.
Edit: Check out his resume as well, it appears he's been working with Ubisoft since 1997, plus he's listed in the credits as a creative consultant. There's a contact thing on his page as well if anyone is a bad enough dude to contact him about it.

How very very unusual. I like his zany art style. All this Roz and Fudge stuff is really really confusing though

. Roz (Betina) looks more like a Disney princess here, which destroys my 'was originally Betilla but got warped out of proportions theory'. Fudge still resembles the strange Rayman 1 art I found to some degree), although still very different from what we saw in the final show. But I'm sure the most serious question on everyone's mind is - why is Rayman a wierd blue thing with one strand of hair on the coloured picture

(as a matter of fact, that one strand of hair thing seems to stick for most of his concept art. Maybe it was his art-style or something)?
Also Britta, how do you end up finding all these incredible Rayman things? You're just so good at it - you've truly and rightfully stolen the thread

!

But first of all the contact-er must save the president from ninjas, because that's the priority right?

Agree. Rayman looks really wierd. Maybe he can tell me WHY Rayman looks different there.
Oh, i just have luck finding them. I love finding these stuff XD like a job for me.
I must wait for his answer.

It's just his style. If you read the storyboard's description it's not the real Rayman, but a "pilot character" based after ubisoft's Rayman, sharing the same name for some reason. Why he's using different characters I'm not sure.. Maybe it's easier for him that way.
Anyway I actually find the storyboards to be better looking than the finals. Almost makes me wish they were 2D animated rather than 3D.

Really? 75% of the time I have no idea what I'm looking at in those storyboards. I know it's just a storyboard, but it looks like he did the whole thing in five minutes.

Maybe when they started the series off, they were unsure if they could use Rayman characters (E.G. they were waiting permission), so they put in some wacky lookalikes as placeholders. That would explain why Lacmac and Globox are so alike, I guess they'd stuck with the placeholder character for too long and didn't want to replace him with his R2 equivalent

. And then, maybe they decided to replace Roz with Betilla, but as an experiment combined the two designs (the human nature of Roz, and facial features/colour scheme of Betilla, and with their forces combined, they became - BETINA! </Possiblyinsanebutstillplausibletheory>

Actually, that's by far one of the more logical insane theories I've heard.

Storyboards aren't necessarily detailed, people normally sketch just the essencial ideas. What I find more wierd if we put Rayman in side, is Betina. She really makes me feel she's out of place.

Well, isn't that what they're meant for? Making a quick oversight of the scene, right? It's actually the style that attracts me most.
By the way from what I can tell Betina, or Roz, visited a cloth shop at some point, which is why she's wearing the dress. There are a few sketches where she's wearing her usual clothes.
