What in love of god is that?! Rayman's pet or something? Actually Rayman's pet could be real.

I recognise the character, yeah. Maybe it was a hommage to one of their favourite series growing up as kids?

I know Marsupilami since I was a kid. He is a famous belgian comic book character created by André Franquin. I even own a resine figurine of Marsu.

Exactly. There have been three series with the marsupilami so fa, the first two being very similar in terms of design, the most recent one being mainly abotu the relations between him and human beings. The latter is also going at a way quicker pace and is 'goofier'.
This character was created by Franquin as a secondary character of the Spirou & Fantasio comic series. A few years later he finally got his own comic series with more than fifteen comics if I remember well. But he's still strongly associated with the universe of Spirou & Fantasio, although only Franquin used him in his comics (to specify, Spirou & Fantasio comics were written by different artists over the years: Franquin created the characters and made the first twenty-four, then a bunch of other ones made between 2 and 13 comics. The most known successors of Franquin were probably Tom and Janry as they also created the Little Spirou comic series aroudn the childhood of the groom).

Mmmh, now im thinking about it, the jibberish jungle looks like Palombia. (fictionnal country the Marsupulami is living in)

Here's my Marsu made of resine. Got it as a souvenir from a Comic Book event that happens every year in a zone of Lisbon.

Really cool looking souvenir. I wonder how big value it has and if it is rare today.

I love it when devs put references from the things they like.

Now we know what we must ask Ancel on next livestream as a question. Is he Marsupilami fan?

You must really believe he'll reply to such question.

Well, he did admit that he is big Crash Bandicoot fan on livestream when my friend asked him, and at one point even admited that for later Rayman games Crash was direct inspiration.

According to The History of Rayman, it was already a good inspiration for Rayman 2: it was originally meant to be a 2D game, but then Ubisoft went to E3, saw Naughty Dog wreak havoc with their series, and chose to go for 3D. Very simple.

We already knew this lol, I think they said it somewhere (maybe in Le Fond de l'Affaire but forgot)

Yeah that was knonw but I recall there being an article that was referred how also in Rayman Origins the wackyness was inspired from Crash games and also during the livestream when asked a question, Ancel said that Crash is one of his favourite games.

It isn't a novelty sadly since this was explained before in an interview (in which I don't remember already).
