Everything on <'s laptop is non-functional. The charger inside was moved because <'s nephew tripped over the cord years ago. It was getting more difficult to charge the laptop, and now it won't work at all. Other parts stick out and probably jumbled around, and the screen is barely hanging on. Basically, it's dead.

< feels particularly knackered today, even though it wasn't especially productive.

< still thinks you should have a go at extracting the hard drive, or find someone who can do it for you. Whatever about the motherboard, power circuitry, screen etc, it could well be safe and sound!

< has wanted to extract the internals from <'s old laptop and try making a mini media center. Sadly, < isn't that confident in <'s abilities.

< thinks you should try it! You never know what you're capable of!

< still has the hard drive of <'s old XP computer. < was using that thing for 9+ years before < moved to this computer 4 years back, so < is very happy to know that all of <'s childhood files are still lying around... somewhere in a file tree on a hard drive < can access if < wants to.

<'s done it before. It's nice going through the old thing sometimes. Kinda like an archive detailing the life of a person you know very well but haven't seen in a long, long time. Then that person happens to be yourself.

^ and ^^ have inspired < to crack open <'s broken old laptop and see if the hard drive still works. < remembers, among other things, having a really creepy weird point and click game called Eastern Mind installed. < remembers a few years ago searching for the game online with absolutely no results whatsoever, but it looks like someone has since unearthed a copy since Google returns a gazillion results now

< had been messing around yesterday modding Rayman 2 using Addy's excellent RayTwol and MixerX's excellent dialogue-editing command line tool. < had a blast.

Now < has to get ready for work. < is almost sad < can't spend more time on messing with R2...!

< got sucked into a vortex of Eraserhead videos and now < really wants to see it and the rest of David Lynch's movies. < always thought he just did like short movies and little animations and things which < all likes, so the movies should be a whole new thing. < loves his vision of the horror genre, the idea of making something so absurd and uncomfortable that somehow also feels relatable and connected to real life emotions/ideas. It's pretty cool mang.

On the topic of spoop movies, <'s seeing Get Out tomorrow, which received the super mega ultra rare score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. < can't wait to see it, the trailer looks great but < was worried it would turn out to just be a smartly marketed jumpscare reel, but it sounds like it's gonna be a major epic supermovie of the year

< is wondering if we should create a dedicated forum space for modding efforts, but < isn't sure if it's worthwhile.

< doesn't think there'd be very many threads in such a section. Though maybe its existence would help to alert people that modding is in fact a thing, and increase the activity in such pursuits.

^ makes a fair point, < does wonder what happened to the ULR group, < hasn't seen some of them for quite some time now.

< is afraid the whole thing has been on hold for a while.
< can't blame them though, that's a lot of work.

< thinks ^^ should go for it! Find any way to increase the levels of activity, and give the standard members a better but not complete look at what goes on behind-the-scenes.

Some soldering, IncoCement, and it should be good as new. :)

< recently thought about getting into David Lynch movies, < likes the style and < thinks < would really enjoy it.
On the same topic < recently saw Shining, holy cow, it was perfect.

Oh ffs I’m not finding this funny anymore.

< has managed to convert a PC FF8 save to a PlayStation one.
