Couldn't be. This trailer was when the game was already shifted into being a sequel, so having it couldn't have been Mr. Dark.
No, I actually think that Mr. Dark itself was supposed to be the Teensie in the first place. Like the player is actually fighting Mr. Dark during the Final Showdown who is later revealed to be the Teensie we see in the finished product in a later cutscene. It could have been quite a surprising reveal if it was handled well, but the awkward truth is that you can already clearly see in the E3 2011 trailer that the figure is a Teensie.Bradandez wrote:Couldn't be. Any proof that game was shifted into being a sequel at the time trailer was released? To my knowledge, it was only discovered after game was released that it was not a prequel. We can't know for sure when did they make such decission.Bradandez wrote:Couldn't be. This trailer was when the game was already shifted into being a sequel, so having it couldn't have been Mr. Dark.
So do you think that the helpful Teensie taking your lums throughout the game was actually supposed to be a new character, who turns out to be Mister Dark and was changed to be the Magician during development, or that it was the Magician all along, who also turns out to be Mister Dark?SpyroGuy wrote:No, I actually think that Mr. Dark itself was supposed to be the Teensie in the first place. Just like how Michel shown everyone the game's ending during the conference part with gameplay. xD
You just shot yourself in the foot, mate. We know Ales Mansay is teensy. We now know he was a huge fan of Mr. Dark. But we don't know who or what is Mr. Dark. The dark figure in the trailer is without a doubt the Magician cosplaying as his idol.SpyroGuy wrote:but the awkward truth is that you can already clearly see in the E3 2011 trailer that the figure is a Teensie.

You just yourself in the foot too! Of course we didn't know the status of Origins in the Rayman timeline, but the developers knew. Sometime in May was when we got the first bit of news of Origins in months at that time. And by June it had to be a sequel, because time later than that would be too late into development just to flip-flop the game prequel to sequel.OldClassicGamer wrote:Any proof that game was shifted into being a sequel at the time trailer was released? I don't want pictures of UbiRay. I want pictures of Spider-Man damn it!SpyroGuy wrote:As a side note: I got UbiRay working and he doesn't crash the game either. Playing as him doesn't require anything too major to do, just editing two lines in the save file's coding does the job entirely.![]()
Here's some proof.

During that time, there were a few interviews that confirmed that it is called "Origins" because it returns to the roots of the franchise, which is 2d. That's the time when they stopped refering to it as a prequel. It was a little vague, but it became a little more clear when the opening of the game was shown as a trailer a few months later.OldClassicGamer wrote:Any proof that game was shifted into being a sequel at the time trailer was released?
