Is Rayman really the "face of Ubisoft" anymore? Sure, maybe back in the day when his games were new and R1 was selling consoles, but nowadays it really seems like more of a side project. I doubt when asked "what if your flagship franchise?" Ubisoft would actually answer "Oh Rayman, of course".

I'm compelled to agree with Saber, though given how they've milked their more popular franchises, that might very well be a good thing.

I heard the Rabbids were the so called "New Mascots" of Ubi.

I am also sadly positive that Rabbids are mascots of Ubi and not Rayman. I mean last year on E3, Rabbids were on presentation and not Rayman :(
Ubisoft does not need to milk Rayman but they should at least use him more often for advertising.

The Rabbids are to Ubisoft as to what the Servbots are to Capcom, cute little mascots that represent the company.

Except that Capcom treats Servbots way worse. They should appear more often on commercials.

I think Capcom uses the hell out of them. They're a main staple of Dead Rising 1-3.

Wasn't a Rabbid in Watch Dogs?

You're correct, I had no clue about this until you mentioned, so I googled it.

So yeah, Rabbids are Ubisoft's Servbots. They're have been Assassin Creed rabbids, Splinter Cell rabbids, and they pop up in the occasional Just Dance games.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the Rabbids seem to have lost some steam over recent years. Much like I'm seeing people grow from loving to disliking the Minions, the Rabbids are probably already starting to face the inevitable moment where the millionth "Toilet paper, bwaaaaa!" joke is not gonna hit home as well as it used to. They're not the most flexible characters to work with, and the comedy feels more forced and uninspired with every game.

Assassin's Creed, though, looks like it's shaping up to be Ubi's own Call of Duty series.

If Rayman's not selling well, there's really no point. The recent games looked like they were really wanting to reboot him, but I don't think it went quite as well as they'd hoped, and they have future plans in mind for him, they're going to first want to rethink how Rayman is supposed to appeal to a large audience.

That's because the Rabbids are stale. They've been around for almost ten years and their humor still consists of little more than screaming. I really try not to let the anti-Rabbids stigma among Rayman fans cloud my judgment about this, but I really do feel as if the creatures have lost their spark.

That said, I'm sure many Rabbids games will continue to be released. They're still making money from new kids who weren't around in 2006, after all.

The show is fairly decent from episodes I've seen. Though, I don't know if it's still around/making new episodes.

EDIT: There still making new episodes and I also forgot they're in development of a Rabbids movie.

Shaping up? It's been like this for quite sometime, a few gems here and there, I'm wanting to try AC II and IV, but jesus the series is milked beyond belief for Ubisoft.

I fully agree, the Rabbids over the years haven't kept the certant endless charm the servbots have. The toilet humor has gotten a little repetitive. Though as a party game, I still really enjoyed RRR, always willing to play that with a friend if we're in the mood for party games (though this is very rare since we more often play fighting games.)

I wonder if Michel Ancel would be able to buy Rayman from Ubisoft from his earnings off WiLD (If it sells well)?

Then again, he'd probably focus on buying Beyond Good & Evil first if it came to that.

What makes you think that? Rayman is clearly way more important for Ancel than BG&E.

Yea, this is probably why he chose to direct BG&E over R3.

Yea, this is probably why he chosed to make Rayman Origins and Legends before BG&E2

Yea, this is probably why he chose to make Rayman Origins and Legends to forget about how awful 2 was. :v
