There's zero issues in running Windows 7 ~ 8.1 on Kabylake/Ryzen processors, the fact they are purposely blocking updates like this proves they are a complete pricks trying to force people onto Windows 10. Fun fact, AMD makes drivers for Ryzen support on the older OSes.

< doesn't especially dislike Windows 10, most of its tracking features can be disabled if you know how to tinker around, and a well configured firewall can block the metadatas sent to MS's server, and if you're audacious enough as < stated before there are Unattended revisions with no tracking, as far as I'm aware they're legal if you own a purchased version of the software.
< doesn't like Windows 10, but < knows that < will someday, somehow, have to use it.

Yeah, the only reason < dislikes Apple is because of their expensive outdated hardware being highly priced, but < does like their OS. < has a friend with a MBP too that he really likes for his actual everyday use.

< also thinks FF8 looks wonderful on the PS1, especially with RGB output.

< will likely probably take the old Dell laptop on the trip, perhaps < will figure out which linux distro < wants to go with for more long-term on it, for it's age.

< much prefers the touchpad and buttons on it compared to the little alienware gaming laptop, because the touchpad on that thing absolutely sucks horribly. We'll see.
