need my speed said what I was trying to say, better. Apart from the levels like that Moskito one that transitions between the two worlds, I loved that, most of the levels in Origins could be any which way. Legends' levels feel individual and unique. I do still love Origins, don't get me wrong, especially tricky treasure levels and the Livid Dead.
this brings me to my favorite thing about legends: the design. every enemy is placed perfectly, every lum, for you to jump off them or into them, into something else, it has such a sense of rhythm to it that I adore, sometimes literal rhythm. The speedruns of this game are a sight to behold seeing the pure momentum and speed this game gives the player.

I've always much preferred Origins to Legends. Level progression and design in particular elevate it over the latter for me, it feels so much more robust as a singular experience. While Legends does admittedly have a nice sense of rhythm with the way enemies and platforms are placed, it ends up feeling like the levels play themselves half the time, and when that isn't the case it's another bloody murfy level.
Every time I played a Back to Origins level it'd just remind me of how much I'd rather just be playing that game instead. Legends is still good, of course, but underwhelming and I don't feel any drive to go back to it.

I'm on Ad's side here, there's nothing wrong with Legends, and I think it's the superior multiplayer title, but when it comes to challenge, Origins beats Legends hands down.

I won't argue against that. Excluding the invaded levels, which are mostly *very* hard (infiltration station), Legends is very easy compared to Origins. Both games when they are hard, it always feels like death is your own fault. I like that.

Well, I completely remember these times when I got randomly killed by the level environment, a moving spike, or the best is just for nothing, I just turned into a bubble.
Anyway, I think Origins keeps much more challenge, since it rather goes back to the roots (even if it has new worlds). What I don't really like about Legends is that it wants to be more than it is. There are many lucky tickets, thousands of lums and other unnecessary arcade elements. I think Origins is more enjoyable in this way, it lets you enjoy the pure game instead of winning prizes and always getting notifications about level up, more lums or new levels.

That is also true, yes. The Moody Clouds can be very nicely hard, in a way Rayamn Legends doesn't manage to be.

Once again, you're full of shit. I've been playing Origins for almost 5 years and I've play the game solo for a majority of the time I have and it has yet to become boring. The game is timeless fun.

That's one of my favorite things about Origins, it kinda shows that the game wasn't originally intended to be the messy ragbag of skilfully designed yet completely unrelated levels it came to be.

Bump.
In my opinion, I'm not really much of a fan of the whole good Magician turned bad Ales Mansay. It did add to the shocking factor during my first playthrough of the game, but I would've rather have seen Mr. Dark return than just references made to him.

All I remember thinking back then was the Magician was a traitor and an evil one. The rest, well thank RayWiki on that.
Edit: I did notice the Mister D drawings during my first playthrough too. I assumed it was about Mr Dark but I couldn't find the connection.

I remember being completely shocked during my first playthrough, but also intrigued as I thought the story was finally getting interesting. I thought that the upcoming levels would explains more in-depth what was going on and I remember being rather disappointing when the game just ended very suddenly after the last chase scene.
I think the idea is interesting, but it just wasn't handled well. If they'd actually made it more understandable with a better plot I think I'd actually have enjoyed it. But as it turned out now I'd rather have had him be some generic villain like Mr Dark since that'd made more sense to the player.

I didn't notice that until I saw it on RayWiki. Maybe that'd cleared things up for me. I remember thinking that perhaps the Magician wasn't the same character as in the original game then and that he might have been Mr Dark...

I'm really glad the Magician didn't turn out to actually be Mr Dark. It would totally confuse the story of the original Rayman and its spin-offs. It would just make no sense whatsoever.
Didn't some people think during the development stage of Origins that the Magician was actually Mr Dark? I could be mixing things up incorrectly.

Look, it's a complete cock-up. The sprites for the so-called "Dark Teensies" in Legends are called "MisterDark". The Legends sticker-book has "Dark" as one of the enemies of the game (see
viewtopic.php?p=1214860#p1214860). Clearly the whole thing was so tortured and confusing that even the artists working on the sequel (and the tie-in merch, though that's to be expected) had no idea what was going on. Well, either that or they're trolling us.
So to answer your question Ray, yes, it has been said that the baddie was going to be Mister Dark at some point during the development of Origins. But this was somehow apparently also the case
after the development of Origins!

I think the Dark Teensies are seen as a resurrected Mr Dark somehow, both by the dev team and the people of the Glade. Whether it is the same person doesn't really matter, since they wish just as much evil upon the world and go about it in similar ways (I guess?).
If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
My headcanon for this is that Mr Dark is some kind of spiritual entity that can control the minds of those who wish evil upon the Glade. The Magician was his fan and wanted to do evil so much that he succeeded in calling him back into the Glade, becoming the host of Mr Dark's powers and will, although they are different characters.

Bump.
I remember the day I got Rayman Origins in 2012. It was also the day I got the PlayStation 3. My parents bought Origins and the PS3 while I was at school, and when they gave me the game, I said "Oh yeah!" I was amazed at the graphics as soon as the intro played. I had Rayman 1 in my mind when I was at Jibberish Jungle, Desert of Dijiridoos and Mystical Pique. I never really thought about the lack of plot back then, I was too focused on getting all of the Electoon cages. There was some frustration especially in certain Time Attack levels, but it proved to not be that difficult of a challenge (I like a challenge in a game). Origins was and still is fun. It's not the best game in the Rayman series, but I enjoy it whenever I play it.
