Ah yes, the only Diamond cup I've ever been in the runnings for was earned within the first minute of the new challenge. If only I could have held onto it.

To be fair, it seems that if you want to get a diamond cup, you're forced to cheat, if the scoreboards are anything to go by.

Not really, you just have to be EXTREMELY persistent and skilled to pull it off.

The whole time I was playing the game myself I got like one two or three diamonds out of about 90 days worth of playing. I don't know about now though.

Some of the time-trial diamonds seem obviously cheated. Not always though.

Got 17 diamond cups so far. Almost 2 millions Lums (I'm playing on PS4). It's always the same players in the top 10. They both must play a lot & be really good at it ^^

Sadly the PC version is populated by hackers, I often see impossible Diamond Cup goals like 4 seconds.

If they cheat, they should at least try to make it realistic.

Yeah why would someone cheat it like 4 seconds, why not 0?

You should see the invasions where people have cheated -1 or -2 minutes.

I have literally no idea what you're talking about.
Maybe that explains your unawareness of bad videogame design, and therefore, ROTD.
*OOOOOOH DAYUM NIGGA*
jk.
Real talk, Rayman 1 did indeed rely too much on leaps of faith due to the awful 2d camera.
Also, it is true that it wasn't self explanatory, and just threw shit at you without being properly self-explanatory (Whoops... those clouds disappear? I'll take that in account next time................ too bad I lost a life just to learn that...... and too bad those are limited).

Errr... what? no... sorry, I'm not wasting my time on that. I'm just sharing my general opinion on the game and the flaws that I found during my playthrough. It's not like I'm making shit up for the sake of being controversial. The game is a classic, but it's also flawed and didn't age well, just like Super Mario 64. It's not like you'd be able to do anything about that, so I don't really know why would you want me to go search ond youtube and find random footage of leaps of faith from the game.
The game is still real good, but both you and me know that Rayman 1 wasn't at all the game that made Rayman popular.
In fact, I dare to say that Rayman 2 made Rayman "a thing", the Rabbids series attracted the casual audience and opened the gates for new potential consumers, and Rayman Origins officially made Rayman popular.

Well...I can't really think of any either. At least, not any that don't hint to there being something below and/or being unable to kill you anyway.

Band Land is the hugest demonstration of trial and error. At 0:15 you must jump to your death, just to find a secret path that gives you impulse to jump. Where? to your death of course, after all, if you slide through the ice and jump, the only thing that you'll get are a bunch of Tings floating.
Yup, totally gonna die...
WHOOPS, CLOUDS SUDDENLY APPEAR TO SAVE YOU.
I guess you have to trust the developers of the game, right? hehe.
Uh? what?
OH, GUESS WHAT, THAT COMPLETELY UNRELATED ACT MADE A FREAKING ELECTOON CAGE APPEAR AT THE BEGINNING OF THE LEVEL!
Silly gamers, how could you not find that obvious?

All these unexpected platforms can be viewed from different camera angles though in 'safer areas'. The tings kind of imply there's something around there.
I'll give you the point about the cages though. I'll admit a lot of my love for R1 is nostalgic based, however I think a lot of what you guys complain about are hardly problems.
If any gamer is to see tings in the air I think they expect there will be something of relief or saving, tings wouldn't just hang in deadly mid air like that for no reason.

They are scratches on a gold medal, that's all.
As I said, these little things are the ones keeping Rayman 1 from being a masterpiece. It's still a rad game for the era it came from, and it's a delight compared to other platformers from the era, like... uh... Radical Rex and stuff.
