On one hand I'm pretty glad to see you taking a liking to Sonic, but boom? I dunno man, but I do respect your opinion :p

Boom looks less and less appealing to me with every more news I hear.

Rise of Lyric (Wii U) looks solid, though I do think it's too far away from feeling like a Sonic game than it should be.
Shattered Crystal (3DS) looks really good. Won't be buying it for a while though, due to Hyrule Warriors and Smash Bros.
I can't wait for the TV show, looks really good.

Two new trailers for Sonic Boom (the TV show and game) were released at Sonic Boom (event).
The show also comes out on November 8th.
My opinions remain the same, show looks good, game looks mediocre.

This is on same level like Spyro Enter The Dragonfly glitch used to beat game early. I swear, this game makes me appreciate games such as 06 and Unleashed. Not gonna be surprising if Big Red Button bankrupts soon.

This does beg the question though, why? If memory serves, Big Red is staffed by veterans from some very prestigious studios. How is it then, that all of that experience ends up culminating into this?

Like with Enter the Dragonfly and Twinsanity, the game was most likely rushed for the holidays. I just noticed it has finally received a couple of reviews from critics - 40/100 from Slant magazine and 50 from Hardcore Gamer. Ouch.

I'm convinced Boom went through some executive meddling at some point. While I wasn't super excited when it was announced, I was at least somewhat optimistic that we had developers with a decent track record behind it. What happened here?
Edit: Did you guys hear about the glitch that gives the game, I kid you not, better graphics.

Are you fucking serious? Does it drop the framerate more?

I believe so.
Edit: After looking a bit, I can't find anything that says if it drops the framerate.

I think they're "ex" members for good reason.

Rumor has it that BigRedButton dropped the project and let other studio called Illfonic finish it instead. People found name of that studio in credits and that studio only made two games in their life. BigRedButton also haven't posted on Facebook updates since August. Don't you think they would want to promote the newly released game? Sanzaru Games promoted Shattered Crystal on their Facebook page. BigRedButton website also has old screenshots before downgraded graphics and everything feels outdated. http://brbent.com/

Am I right in thinking that the credits also revealed just one beta tester? I've seen a number of sites claim this but I haven't yet seen any picture evidence...

I do not have game so I can't confirm myself sadly, but I was told as well that only one tester was testing it so you probably heared right. Sooner or later, YouTube Let's Plays for Sonic Boom will be finished and someone will show credits for sure. I doubt that studio made entirely out of ex-ND staff has only 1 teaster. I think it is clear that BRB dropped the project in fear of negative feedback when fans complained about character designes and Illfonic then picked up the project and finished it with BRB's permission and since BRB started the developement they were credited on logo splashscreen before main menu.

So do we think Illfonic took over around August? That's still the vast majority of dev time spent under BRB, just over 2 1/2 years if I recall. I dunno man, if BRB was so scared about the fan reaction to the redesigns I think they would have dropped the project much earlier. My suspicion is that something went very, very wrong near the end of development, possibly a loss of data or even something external to the project (financing, team schisms etc) that necessitated a handover. I personally think it's more likely to be the latter, seeing as BRB hasn't had much of an internet presence since that time, though this is all speculation of course. But why Illfonic?
Sonic '06 was a miracle considering what the team was up against; Sonic Boom has no such excuse forthcoming.

The single QA was from Illfonic, BRB and Sega's QA were listed in the credits as well.
I have to admit, putting sleep deprivation in special thanks is pretty funny.
