Yeah, something feels a bit off about it.
I think there are too few frames in the animation. It looks and feels jerky.

I’m thinking about getting Rayman Origins on PC at some point. Which version is more ideal, the GOG one or the Steam one?

The GOG version is perfect; it is fully patched and supports all language. The Steam version is probably identical, but the GOG is always preferred because it's completely DRM-free, you get an offline installer, which will never stop working. You don't have to worry that you won't be able to play your game in case Valve decides to discontinue the service or for whatever reason.

The Steam version of Origins is DRM free too, and supports all those languages.

Good to know. How is it DRM-free? You get an offline installer which does not require the Steam client?

Not exactly, but the game can launch without Steam. That means you could just copy the files to another computer and run the game without needing Steam.

Bah, just tried launching the GOG version of
Origins on sister's laptop running Win10 with some AMD GPU, and all I get is a black screen with sound playing. Never had such an issue on any PC. Maybe there is some truth to AMD GPUs having bad compatibility and terrible drivers. On that same laptop, using any modern GPU driver causes the entire system to freeze for half a second every 2 seconds.

Oh man, that's not good.

What age is the laptop (and the AMD GPU within)?

I think it's
this one and was bought ~2016. The APU is AMD A8-7410 with Radeon R5 M330 graphics, which is a 2015 chip.

I have a laptop which used to have an AMD CPU and GPU too, albeit not a very powerful one. I never had this issue though, and I ended up replacing the motherboard for one with an Intel/Nvidia combo instead since the CPU is about 6 times as powerful.
I don't recall ever having this issue though, and I use AMD on my PC too. Even on Linux it works fine for me.

Btw, I found the scrapped nymph in the Rayman Facebook page:

I want to mention this in the wiki, but how can you call whatever is behind Hannah? A giant promotional canvas/poster?
Edit: it seems the image is a giant version of something that appears in the Origins Art Book.

For some reason, it freaks me out that I'm reading a 10th-anniversary review of a guy who played it first at the age of 12, whereas I was quite a bit older than that when it came out
EDIT: I guess it's yet another example of
wanna feel old…

I'm older than all of you, should I just go jump off the Prison Ship now?

I thought the exact same as PluM when reading that article, but thanks dr_st for mitigating this feeling.

Rayman Origins is free on the Ubisoft Store today. It's likely everyone who wants it already has it, but still.

I was about to mention that, I think the offer lasts until December 22nd.
Edit: it has to be before December 21.

If you already have it installed on the machine - clicking "Redeem" will detect it and "connect" it to the Uplay account, although the game really requires no Uplay and you can still play it without it.
