It appears to me as though the reason they scrapped most of the plot and dialogue, such as the whole "Ales Mansay" thing, is that they realized how bad it was. It must have been a late decision though, as it was clearly done in a hurry and all the scenes with the Magician remain (albeit with with no dialogue).
I wish they hadn't stopped there and had also removed the scenes in question as well as the last remaining pieces of misleading dialogue. It would have made Rayman Origins a game with basically no plot and great gameplay, and that's what people would have judged it on. Instead, if will be forever remembered for its pig latin and laxative-induced behavior disregard for the lore.
And that was 12 years ago. So it should be clear why, whenever someone suggests that the current Ubisoft (with 12 more years of... whatever... behind their belt) should make a new RAYMAN game, I politely say "no, thank you".

Jesus humch, you'd think UbiSoft slaughtered your firstborn with that kinda disdain (I kid I kid)
I think there are definitely creatives in Ubi who do care for the series, I mean take a look at the driving forces behind the Mario + Rabbids, but I think there's so many different perspectives now on how the series could be that I wonder if any future interpretation could please everyone without there being a substantial portion of folks who don't gel with it.

Yeah, the passion is definitely in there somewhere. As is normally the case, it appears as though the main issue is the higherups, not the developers themselves. It's the same reason why we've had 374 Assassin's Creed games alongside countless other titles filled with egregious, unnecessary Microtransactions. If you gave these teams more time and resources, I think we'd see far more from franchises such as Rayman.

I stumbled upon this yesterday. Have a listen to Christophe Héral blatantly reusing his own work in lesser known games
I guess we have lyrics for The Lum King now!

Rayman Origins prototype footage (being played in the ubi art editor) with a lot of cut content, including features from Rayman 1 such as photographers and plums

I only highlighted in the most dispassionate way what disregard they had for the series' lore.

If you're logged in to your account, there will be an edit button at the top-right of the article. As for images, just click the "Upload file" button in the navigation menu on the left. You will then be able to insert them into the article itself.
However, please make sure they aren't on the wiki already. The fourth one you posted, for example, is already present in that article.

Very interesting! Do you have access to the prototype in question? We're gonna want good-quality screenshots of some of that stuff to upload to the wiki.

How interesting! For some reason when I heard the intro "Psycho Killer" came to mind

So for a minute I thought I was after missing something big, but then I read Mae's pinned comment and realized that no build was leaked, it was just some footage she "somehow" got her hands on. Fair enough
It's interesting to see how it contains elements of Rayman 1 (lifebar, Rayman bursting into Electoons, the Plum) with Rayman 3 (combo mode for Lums). I know we already knew about the lifebar, and I can see why it was taken out, but I would really have loved to have the other aspects there. It looks like a lot of work went into the Plum, what with the way it can attach to the Lividstones' heads (just like the original) and make the lianas flail around when it touches them. I know "it looks cool" is generally not a good enough reason to keep something in a game if it's not working, but… They really should have made it work, it's Rayman after all! And yeah, the combo mode is great, it would surely have felt a lot more rewarding, to me anyway.
The editor also looks really nice and fun to use, and of course that was originally supposed to be made public too… Seeing the parabolae indicating the intended jump trajectories makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside Those bodies of water with no boundaries were weird, but they were glitch-free – I guess they were there to test corner cases and make sure everything worked properly, which it did!

I don't, no. I was hoping for some screenshots too so we could better document it on the wiki. Especially the plum mechanic is very interesting!

I see, like PluM mentioned, only the footage has been leaked and not the build itself:
Mae Da Goof wrote:Just wanna make some things clear:
1. This build has NOT been leaked, it is just footage i was able to obtain.
2. For privacy concerns, i cannot say where it came from, and i suggest for everyone else to refrain from looking into it, for everyone's sake.
3. I cannot disclose when then the footage was recorded.
Hopefully it's only a matter of time before we get our hands on it! Otherwise, using screenshots from the video will be just fine.

I was even trying to ask if such video was uploaded already. Well it looks like it have for instance nowadays two sign posts more similar to Rayman 1,extra lives similar to also Rayman 1...etc.

This chest level intrigues me enormously, it's the only level with this (beautiful) decor plus the surrounding stone is the same as the menhirs at the place where Rayman was created by Betilla, as well as all the appearance plates in start of level, I need DETAILED LORE !!!
Wait, Rayman Origins was released on November 15, 2011 right?
Yeah, because I played it and the game was fun!
Also online features are no longer anymore on 25 January, 2024 for no reason.

I've been thinking today about how much more sense it made to have the Land of the Livid Dead in this game back in early development when this was planned as a prequel to the original trilogy. It would have explained how such a peaceful place had earned such a name back in Rayman 3.

I’d like to think the origins world is actually dessert of the Knaaren

The dessert of the Knaaren? As in, they eat the residents of that place as something sweet to wash down all the surface people's brains?

I think the Knaaren all left the dessert and years later, when it was rotting, the creatures from the rayman 3 LotLD needed a new home and found the decaying dessert

I had no idea Land of the Livid Dead (and by extension, Dessert of the Knaaren) was based off of Candy Chateau!
