I see Ubisoft are still intent on continuing the tradition of porting each Rayman game to as many systems as is physically possible.

While that is true, the fact that they got Michel Ancel to speak about it is new. That coupled with the existence of surprises, has me intrigued. Of course, this could just be another port, but even if it were, it has got to be the largest fanfare any Rayman port has gotten.

Weird how a 3D Rayman was supposedly cancelled due to "underwhelming" sales of Rayman Legends, yet money is still being invested into porting it to new systems.

I'd imagine it'd cost significantly less to pre-existing code than having to develop new code from scratch. Even so, I'm still wondering what this Definitive Edition has to offer, like I said, this is an odd amount of fanfare given to a simple port.

Bzzit, that's not weird at all. Ports don't require much money, especially since porting to Switch is apparently very easy. Creating a new 3D game however does require tons of money.
The video of him talking about it is there to help promote the Switch, not to promote Rayman Legends. Most other systems a Rayman game was ported to had already done a good enough job promoting themselves, but so far the Switch doesn't have the games and hasn't come out yet. That coupled with videos being far less common 10 years ago is the reason no other Rayman port ever got a video like this.

Fair point, I guess time will tell whether or not these extras are noteworthy, or meek additions.

I find this a bitter-sweet news. Namely for early buyers that got Wii U, and the other platforms are next. I will stay tuned for more informations but heh...

Here's the new cover artwork, by the way:

Funny how they changed the background color but forgot to change the blue highlights on the characters as well. And why is the dragon's tail at the top transparent?

So from what I'm understanding this is basiclly the Rayman revolution of Rayman Legends? Well anyways I am happy that we at least got some sort of an announcement for the switch.

I wouldn't say Rayman Revolution, unless Ubisoft proves us the contrary with the new stuff they are going to bring there. The irony is that it is the first time there's a port with enhancements when compared to previous versions. The "tradition" used to be the opposite!

Rayman Revolution was an extensive remake that changed and modified many aspects of Rayman 2. I'd imagine that this Definitive Edition would be similar to what the Dreamcast version was to the original Rayman 2, the same base game, but with a few extra bells and whistles, as it were.

This is the game that made me preorder my Nintendo Switch.

Hmm, the Switch exclusive stuff has me intrigued, but I wouldn't feel justified in pre-ordering a Switch at this stage, Ninty's done good, but I'm still a little lukewarm on the games side.
Also, the Definitive Edition's logo is a bit weak:

Well, I guess this will be the last version of Legends we'll get. I mean, with a name like this it'll be hard naming another port of the game
Also, a rather interesting comment from Rayman's Facebook page:
If Legends does well on Switch it could certainly open the possibility for a new game!

Master, this is me you're talking about. I bought the Wii U for Legends (extra games came with it, so the purchase was justified). There are other games to the Switch, but this is what got me the most intrigued.
And you all know, I really, really, really, love Legends.
Also, I'm supporting this version due to the Facebook post that Carrot just quoted.

Ehh, the Facebook staff have been known to be overly coy, there was that one time they were playing up the sneakiness and ended up dealing with a false hype train launch. But if it is true, buy the heck out of it.

I'm just glad that it isn't a brand new game that's exclusive to Switch.
That would have pissed me off.

Same but I wouldn't buy a Nintendo Switch if this was the case anyway.

They won't do that hopefully , remember when rayman legends was supposed to be realeased only for the wii U and Ubisoft finally decided to realease it on every platform, there is two reason : first it wouldn't be fair and many people will complain , second nintendo wii U wasn't very popular so they would not get much money if it was exclusive to wii U , they probably won't make a game exclusive to switch
