Nice to see that 3DS keeps getting more remakes. Remakes are awesome.

HOENN REMAKES FINALLY!
Actually, looking at it. Maybe I'm reading it too deeply, but why does it say "New World?" Could this be a sequel instead of a mere remake?

A friend of mine who is extremely excited for these had mentioned of them being remakes.

Now it could have been a mass confusion haven being spread, but that is a very good question, Master. When she comes back on I'll mention that, she's real big on Pokemon (No this isn't Serza I am talking about.)

My friend sent me a screenshot of some cover art for the remakes.

Is it legit, or just fan work?

If they're the ones from the teaser trailer, then they are real (but tentative).

They were like 3DS box -art.

Well it would make sense, there were a hell of a lot of Hoen references in X & Y.

That's a good question actually, but I think I may have an possible answer, though, considering i've never actually played any gen 3 games, I could be completely wrong because I'm mostly going off what other people have told me and from what I have seen, namely: Hoenn had too much freaking water. and I can see why that would be incredibly annoying, seeing as all water you have to surf on acts the same way to tall grass, and seeing as you don't have a way to avoid it, unless you have a butt-load of repels, your going to run into encounter, after encounter, after encounter.
I think Game freak may have taken that to heart and therefore might be giving Hoenn a redesign so that there is less water, I doubt it'll be drastically different, I'm guessing the towns would still have the same layout, same gyms, and maybe even placement on the overworld, but the routes may be a bit different. and the story will probably also be the same.
But maybe your right, maybe it will be a sequel similar to black 2/white 2, and the new world thing may mean its set at some point in the not too distant future of the hoenn we know, but it's changed enough to be considered a new world, the only other game I can use for that comparison is how Link between worlds had a similar layout to link to the past, but ultimately there were differences.
I honestly don't know, it's all just speculation at the moment. I'd like to think its the same game but the worlds been given a redesign because not only could that mean less water, it would also mean people who previously played Ruby and Saphire would still be getting a new expirience, rather than a graphically fancier version of a ten year old game with the newer pokemon.

I know remakes of older Gen games have become a thing recently, but part of me would probably prefer going down the sequel route.

If it is a sequel it could explain something people found very odd in in x and y, I forget who, or where he was, but one tourist NPC asks you to guess where he's from, but he says its not Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, or even Kalos. Maybe this "new world" was the region this guy was referring to.

Hmm, while I do hope to see some new stuff, I'm not sure how I'd feel if they so prominently made a deal about Ruby and Sapphire, yet not take place in the region there. Even if it's a sequel, I'd hope that it'd remain tied to Hoenn.

But otherwise I am excited, very excited, and very curious as to what this story is. I said before that the perfect game for me would be Emerald with a story amped up to BW/BW2 standards so I hope it's that.

I'm so fucking happy to hear this. As a huge fan of Hoenn, I'm absolutely pumped.

I'm super happy that this just wasn't fan-work! It's been speculated for quite a while, and they were right! I hear it's coming in November!

Well it's a possibility, because Emerald was really the best of both worlds when it came to R & S. We'll see, I always tend to wait with new Pokemon releases just incase they make an add-on version.

This is super cool though.

When the time comes when I get round to buying these games, I'll get Ruby because that's the one I had as a kid. Also Team Magma rocks.

If they remake Emerald, they have to call it "Chaos Emerald".
