Re: Mafia - Archive
Well maybe I was a bit too optimistic concerning the number of players... which will probably determine whether I host or play! No one else feels like playing?
Re: Mafia - Archive
Nah, I'm sure we could get a decent number of players.
Mafia sign-ups
Mafia is a game of trust and deception between an uninformed majority and an informed minority. Here's a brief explanation of how it works:
- Everyone who wants to play signs up in this topic.
- Each player will receive a password to one of the alias accounts. This game is anonymous. Once the game has started, it's forbidden to post from your regular accounts in this topic.
- Each player will receive a Role PM. Your Role PM explains who you are in the game, what you can do, and how you can win.
- There are two teams in the game: the mafia and the village. The mafia members will know each other from the start, while the villagers will not. The villagers greatly outnumber the mafia, though. The team that eliminates their opponents wins.
- The game is split up into a number of day and night periods which will be announced by the host.
- During the night, the Mafia collaborate and decide on a villager to kill. Also, some people can use abilities at night - this will be explained in your role PM.
- During the day, a public Lynch is held. Every living user votes on another user, and whoever gets the most votes is killed and removed from the game. Ideally, this is when the village strikes back - having the advantage in terms of numbers they can vote on whoever they think is acting suspiciously and hopefully Lynch a mafia member. Alternatively, if they are unsure of who to lynch, they can vote "No Lynch".
- Dead players are no longer allowed to contact other players in regards to the game. Anything you know at your time of death stays with you forever, unless you already told someone.
- The game begins on Night 0. No killing can occur on Night 0 but other abilities may be used.
Sign-ups are now closed! The game will start in a few days.

Re: Mafia sign-ups
I'm going to try it for first time, so I'm in.
Re: Mafia sign-ups
I think I've played a game like this before. It was a myths themed game and I was the witch.
Questions:
How long will the game last?
How long does a voting last? Will all players have plenty of time to make their vote?
P.S. this should obviously be a Rayman themed game.
Count me in.

Sign me up.
Re: Mafia sign-ups
It's hard to say exactly how long it's going to last. If I remember correctly, the previous games ended at like "Day 5" or shortly after, so it will probably take about 10 days if the in-game Days (voting) and Nights (abilities and killing) last 24h. They can (and probably will) last longer though, if needed.
We tried a Rayman theme before but it was never finished, as Hunch came up with a strategy that involved screenshots of the Role PMs, and won the game on the first day basically (so we don't allow screenshots anymore). I'm fine with any theme really, as long as it provides enough "good" and "bad" characters.

Re: Mafia sign-ups
Well, can't we always try again?
But if not I suppose Star Wars is good to go.
(How does TF2 even have enough characters? D:)

Re: Mafia sign-ups
Well there's BLU team and RED team.
Re: Mafia sign-ups
But there's about, 5, 6 characters for each team?
That makes it about 12. That's not enough, is it?

Re: Mafia sign-ups
There's 9 of them.
Re: Mafia sign-ups
Don't forget the hats.
Re: Mafia sign-ups
Haha, yeah, the hats.
So wait a minute... 9? I thought there were less than that. No wait, now that I think about it, I think I forgot to count the bomber-negro.

Re: Mafia sign-ups
A TF2 theme actually sounds great, the only thing is that we'd either have to invent classes for the Mafia side or both sides are going to have similar roles.

Re: Mafia sign-ups
As I said, I'll either play or co-host depending on the number of players.
Re: Mafia sign-ups
Uh. Needs more players.
