Did you not like Rayman 3? Ancel had nothing to do with that game and it was great. I don't think who the developer is really matters in this case, as long as they have a passion for the franchise.
Yeah but then at the same time you have Rayman raving rabbids that Ancel left mid development... though if Rayman will get a good director that'll know how to take care of the frenchise I'm sure we can even get something even better then Rayman 3.

It's probably my least favorite "main" Rayman game, so not really I suppose. I much prefer the GBA version. But it was still a lot of the Rayman 2 crew while the other half of that team went on to Beyond Good and Evil instead, which is the far superior game in every respect. A lot of the stuff gets credited with Ancel supervising or overseeing over the years even if he's not working on it (like Rayman Arena) but sometimes it's not entirely clear what hand he had in something.
dartofthedavros wrote: As for comparing Legends to Far Cry, there's a rather glaring issue with that, namely that it's the Montpelier studio that develops the Rayman games, while the Montreal team directs Far Cry. Sure there's still corporate bullshit and helping between different the studios, but they're directed by entirely different people with entirely different ideas and opinions so.... :|
Yeah the studios do make a ton of difference. I think a lot of what could happen that was fun with Rabbids started and ended at Montpellier. They developed the first Rabbids game and Rabbids Go Home, which I think is awesome. A lot of the developers of Rabbids Go Home then in turn made Valiant Hearts, which is now somewhere in my list of favorite games.

I basically just classify everything where when the studio gets futher away from the original developer/team, a franchise weakens or fails. I find it easiest to see this with NIntendo when they send out certain franchises to third parties where the quality and gameplay is never as good. Some people never understand that the company Arzest/Artoon that makes Yoshi's Island DS and 3DS are basically none of the people who worked on the first Yoshi's Island and that is why the quality is so different.
Yharu wrote:Woah! How much time have I slept on my books to miss all this posts?! :fou:
Seriously though, I really want the Rayman series to continue, but if there's going to be a new director for a (hopefully) next chapter, it might as well being someone who cares about the characters and the story and wants to continue in a good way. Despite being many talented and devoted people out there, I always feel that monsieur Ancel has to keep at least an eye on the project.
Yeah all that said, I might be up for some more Rayman if the creative director title goes to one of the leads from Valiant Hearts (although I do see one of the two quit Ubisoft in 2015).

There's no such cliché in France so I doubt that a game developed there would include it, but who knows!

Trust me, it's not about winning an argument, just sharing my opinion. Hell, I didn't even think I'd won anything. I was just noticing that most of my points had gone unaddressed, but now you've explained that it's because you agreed, I understand.

I'm not going to address every single bit of your post either as I agree with most of it. Yes, if Rayman were more popular, Tumblr and the other landfills of the internet would be buzzing with the indignation of triggered social justice warriors demanding that Ubisoft apologize and remove those highly offensive enemies from the game. Yes, those swordsmen are terrible enemies and the mariachis are much better in that they refer to actual Mexican culture, not Hollywood stereotypes.

Not sure that some people wrongly getting offended is a reason enough to restrict the graphic designers' creativity, but I get your point indeed.
sergiomonty wrote:Sorry for booning ( :boon: ) at you Hunch, it's just that it kind of pissed me off that you would only notice that at this point of the discussion when I strongly suggested many times that that was my only personal concern. You seriously were thinking that I was personaly racist-shaming Rayman, when I actually wanted to protect the series from that, and that seriously made me want to stop the discussion and say "eh. opinions". I also wanted to express how underwhelmed I felt with the amount of levels since the last two days, but I couldn't because this discussion was on the way for the entire week. I was tired. Sometimes I leave discussions and let things die because I'm not interested in it anymore. That's how I roll.
No offense taken, as you've seen in my reply. I did indeed believe that it was your stance and explained why I disagreed.

You have to realise it's not serious. I think it falls under black humour, not sure, but maybe. It's just so crude, you laugh at how obscene it is.
It's black humour indeed, it's pretty obvious that the whole topic is a joke.

Brad has no chill when it comes to his bae  To be honest though I have mixed feelings about Barbara, cause in one hand she's an interesting and quirky character with a whole lot to potentially explore (where is her homeland?), but on the other hand Barbara really lacks a proper reason for being apart of the Rayman continuity she comes off as bad quota filling.

This feels like a breath of fresh air. There's nothing as good as getting to a well settled agreement.

Well, maybe cake. Yeah, cake is better.
