Aw, well I doubt I'm as good as some of the other people on DeviantART!

Some of their stuff just blows me away....
Also another thing about the new music track: expect familiarity in relation to the character being saved.

Wow, I must say, this looks really really reeaaaally good. So, all of that is inside CryEngine, correct? What part of the game is actually 3DS Max? Just the modelling and animation, or just the modelling?

I was wondering another thing. How are you actually getting CryEngine? Isn't it going to be like really really expensive to get a license from them?

No, I've said they're releasing a complete CryEngine3 to the public. Why do they do it? They've offered to help publish a user's game if it's good enough. It's a great marketing campaign and over all a win-win situation.
The modeling is done in 3Ds Max, and the detail animations within a model (like Rayman) are also done in 3Ds Max. The rotating pianos, piano key waves, trumpet valves and trumpet poofs are done within the engine.

I. Don't. Know.

Sometime this month. Over at Crymod we're guessing it might happen around the 16th-17th after GDC (Game Developers Conference) 11 when hopefully some previews will be shown, and possibly a release.

And here's a little concept art for Joe captured on the crater by the little guys (what ever Beagonix's species are):

Wow! This game looks amazing! I'll definitely play it once it's released!
I do have a few questions though:
RayFan9876 wrote:Raven - Another being, the only one known to be the same species as Rayman
But Tarayzan and the Magician (and the Musician too) are also the same species as me...
RayFan9876 wrote:Globox - Part of Ly's resistance group, Globox is at a first impression, a fat whining dork, but proves himself with strange and lethal elemental powers. Later, Rayman finds they were almost brothers in sport. They both shared the same humor and interests.
So if I understand this correctly you're saying I first met Globox after Rayman 1... but Globox is already in Rayman Origins, and that takes place BEFORE Rayman 1!
Still I think this game is going to be awesome. I think my favourite level will be the Temporal Palace - I always thought it was a shame Ubisoft didn't make Rayman 4. Now I'll still have a chance to (re)visit that level!

Nice concept artwork! Could you tell us all when you get the engine yourself, and tell us where you got it exactly? I've looked at the Crytek site and I must say it's got a bloody confusing layout. Also, all the information pages about the CryEngines don't work for me. My browser tells me it can't find that page, while it can find all the other pages on the site. All the pages I
didn't want to see.

Oh yes, and I meant to ask: the objects in your 3D world, the piano keys and the musical notes for example, they're made in 3DS Max, right? Then what about the ground and stuff, is that CryEngine again?
Anyway, enough about that - now onwards to your game!
I'd like to ask how much of the actual game world is complete. I've seen the worlds in the videos I watched, but how much of the entire game is that? Have you got the whole game world done already, and have you just got to make cutscenes and programming and detailing, or have you got detailed areas already finished, but are there still whole worlds that need to be crafted?

Ah, good point. I'll change it to say something like: "Before her discovery, there had been only a few and no females of Rayman's kind."

I actually wrote that before Rayman Origins was announced, so I'll have to think on this one.

Yes, the individual models were made in 3Ds Max, and the terrain is made in the engine. As for the progress, I'm going to have to redo the environments because of the engine update (the level formats aren't compatible), but I keep all my scripts and models and such. However some of the scripts need revising due to updates in relation to the way the engine reads it.. you know what I'm getting at.

Thanks! I haven't uploaded my own artwork or shown it to anyone for so long out of the odd occasion, but now that I think about it, I've improved drastically since a few years ago. I actually didn't notice til I just read your post.

Hmm... but then what about the Musician's wife, the fat one at the beginning of the Blue Mountains? >.<
Fan-game complications!

Ah, ok, I get it. Hmm... level formats not being compatible sounds like a complete waste of effort... that sucks. Then again, when you redo something completely, it usually turns out better than before. Yep, I get ya. Good luck with that!
By the way, about RayFist, who was in your commentary; are you related, or does he live nearby? How did you get to make a video where you're physicly together? Just interested, that's all.

We were webcam + mic Skyping, so I guess it's the equivalent to talking to a prison visitor through one of those clear walls except no one did anything wrong.

Lol at the comparisson! Ah... yeah, that would explain why I heard two male voices most of the time (am I correct or should I appologise to someone now? Sorry if I'm mistaken); that would have been someone else at RayFist's house. I was already wondering if I should ask about it or just drop it in case I mistook one of the voices for yours... and accidentally insulted you.

Here's a bit of info about my magic fist from the RayWiki:
The manuals for both The Great Escape and Revolution contain a short story detailing how Rayman came to be captured by the Robo-Pirates shortly before the beginning of the game. According to this story, Rayman lost most of his powers, including the magic fist, when the Robo-Pirates destroyed the Heart of the World. This indicates that Rayman first received the magic fist at some point between the events of Rayman 2 and the previous game, and that he was already acquainted with the ability by the time he regained it at the beginning of Rayman 2.
This made me think about your game, where I first meet Ly. Will she upgrade my telescopic fist from the first game to my magic fist from Rayman 2?
