Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Oh yeah, classic Sonic is great. They've always been trying to make Sonic kind of badass and cool for kids, but the difference being that they were confident about him being that. Later games just make me feel like there were a bunch of middle aged developers going "Sonic's rad, right kids!? He likes chilly dogs, that's pretty cool I think!".
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I still have no regrets buying Shadow the Hedgehog for Xbox.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
That game sucked. I enjoyed it as a kid but coming back to it years later, it is a downright awful game.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I'm very picky with 3D Sonic games, believe it or not I actually hated Sonic Heroes.
I think Heroes came very close to being a good game but the gameplay was a massive borefest. The environments though were so rich and full of detail, it's a shame the game itself just wasn't great.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I hate both games. Last good non-maze Pac-Man game was Pac-Man World Rally, and recently, Pac-Man Monsters for iOS and Android is not bad either.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
To get yo facts straight, I don't dislike Rayman 2. It's a decent game. JUST SO OVERRATED.

No you just can't handle the fact I have different opinions and am way more critical of series, especially if it's a series I grew up with.Bradandez wrote:My god, you have no taste, Brandon. NO TASTE.
You simply can't stand the fact more people on the forums prefer R2. To be honest, outside of the forums, I don't think R2 is recognized enough. R2 really was overshadowed by Banjo-Kazooie, Mario 64, and other big named platformers. It's still fairly well known, but not nearly the same league as these other platformers.Bradandez wrote:To get yo facts straight, I don't dislike Rayman 2. It's a decent game. JUST SO OVERRATED.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
A good chunk of my real life friends aren't too well versed with Rayman. I did install Rayman 3 on a friends computer since he wanted to try it out but he just couldn't get into it. Most of them play games like Persona or Metal Gear Solid. Though my friend Chris made me a big fan of MGS, so I do thank him for that. Hell, some of my favorite franchises are thanks to my friends, No More Heroes, Mother/Earthbound, and I do plan to get into Persona.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
shouldn't you be busy explaining the great game design behind origins' decision to have the player go to through another 5 sets of levels in the same worlds with nearly no interesting mechanics introducedBradandez wrote:My god, you have no taste, Brandon. NO TASTE.

A) You are just really nitpicky.Rayfist wrote:No you just can't handle the fact I have different opinions and am way more critical of series, especially if it's a series I grew up with.Bradandez wrote:My god, you have no taste, Brandon. NO TASTE.

B) Huh, so I guess it isn't that great after all, hmmm? Super Mario 64 and BK are actually entertaining and provide an actual challenge. And BK has such charm that R2 couldn't match for me personally.
Not really. Aren't you guys tired of using the old "So much atmosphere and so much boring green levels and no challenge what so ever" excuse over and over?Keane wrote:shouldn't you be busy explaining the great game design behind origins' decision to have the player go to through another 5 sets of levels in the same worlds with nearly no interesting mechanics introduced

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
We all need to eventually grow up, and not let nostalgia blind us in the way of a game that to this day really isn't enjoyable. I've given Heroes countless chances, I've even praised the fuck out of its glorious level design, but it's gameplay truly was repetitive, and stale. Think about it, remember how well the engine of SA2 worked? The animations were smooth, so why did they ditch the engine for this? The whole team switching mechanic is a mess, having to stop dead in your tracks of glorious satisfying speed to fight off 50 eggmans robots (Some of which have a lot of health) isn't satisfying, it's annoying.Bradandez wrote:A) You are just really nitpicky.
I never said that, I'm just saying R2 came out at a time in the middle of huge 3D platformers, so it didn't attract as much. It's no different than the likes of Earthbound, a game that came out in the time of when big RPG's like Final Fantasy were overshadowing it. The game didn't get much attention until years later.Bradandez wrote:Huh, so I guess it isn't that great after all, hmmm?
And Rayman 2 isn't? I'll admit I played R2 to death so it isn't as challenging as it used to be but there definetly were some moments in R2 that were fairly challenging, the final battle with Razordbeard with the lava bath especially.Bradandez wrote:Super Mario 64 and BK are actually entertaining and provide an actual challenge.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Eh... I played it on my PSP, it was okay but really it didn't do anything to stand out in the racing genre. There were barely any race tracks, all of them were insanely short too.Oldclassicgamer wrote: Last good non-maze Pac-Man game was Pac-Man World Rally
The funny thing is I loved Pac-Man world 3 despite the constant hatred for the game, sure the combat was a bit on the repetitive side but man the game looked very nice in some areas, and the platforming segments were fun... man I want to replay that shit soon.
