< Can't believe it! < Thought < was crazy having 5 PS2's. < has 3 fats and 2 slims. < has these models

SCPH-30003
SCPH-39003
SCPH-50003
SCPH-75003
SCPH-77003

Edit: < agrees with ^. Why do Sony not have PS4 backwards compatibility. At least Microsoft are making an effort.

< knows Microsoft have plenty of experience with backwards compatibility maintaining Windows. :P < reckons the thing would fall apart if they tried to remove floppy support. Of course, < is happy that they still support floppies, make no mistake!

< has just taken a risk and bought an untested Sega Saturn on ebay. < done this because they had posted about never owning one in the "I have never" thread and kept thinking about it but they're very expensive to buy. < needed to buy a game to test it so bought Rayman for it too. < was going to buy a cheaper game just to test it but then < realised that they might as well just buy a good game instead of one they don't like, since if the console doesn't work < will sell it on and just pay the extra to buy a listed as working console.

< Wonders what purpose does having different copies of the same console serve.
<'s PS2 also still works thankfully.

< isn't 100% sure but < heard the SCPH-39003 (39001 in USA I think?) is a v7 and everyone seems to say they're the best version. < also knows the SCPH-50003 (50001) are v9-v10 and have a quiet fan in them. < doesn't mind because < put a 33ohm resistor on their v7 to make it just as quiet. < thinks the fan didn't need to be that fast as the PS2 doesn't get that hot.

< also heard they handle PS1 games different depending on the model. < also noticed the v9-v10 initialises the PS2 games about 5 seconds faster (same as slim) due to the different DVD driver.

< is glad to hear that ^ also has one. < has a network adapter and FCMB too and a 160gb IDE HDD that < had spare laying around. < usually installs games from the disc to it because they load faster and it saves damaging the discs. < doesn't necessarily need 160gb of space but it's all < could find going through <'s computer parts.

< wishes < had a bigger drive too. The one < has in the PS2 is already full with only around 7 games and BlackRhino Linux.

< thinks ^'s location would make short work of that "full-disk" situation. :lololol:

< just seen ^'s location

< has a few IDE HDDs of around 80gb to 160gb just lying around. < would like the SATA adapter but < thinks there's no point wasting money when the PS2 will still read at a limited speed. < ordered a USB to IDE adapter on ebay to be able to write to the HDD without building an outdated PC but < received a 3 way HDMI switch instead. < wonders how someone could mix those 2 items up. Maybe the seller had accidentally run the command

Code: Select all

sudo rm -rf ./commonsense
Instead of

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install brain

Maybe they should run

Code: Select all

locate -i specsavers

That's gold!

< was just writing a three-way ratio in <'s report and found that LibreOffice Writer automatically changes ":100:" to a Unicode character with a double-underlined figure 100, that RPC won't even let me post! (Same way as "(C)" would be corrected to "©") < wonders if that's an Easter Egg or what…

EDIT: Attached a pic.

< loved the Norwegian winter, but hell it was cold! As little as -12°C with a lot of wind and humidity.

< would like to hear which model ^ has when ^ can :)

< found out that people are saying the v7 (3900x but some can have that model no. and be v8) is the best model because it has the best components and was that last one that was manufactured in Japan before production switched to China. < also has one with a smashed up shell that was found which is also an SCPH-39003 but it seems to have a tiny heatsink. < thinks this would make it run much hotter due to that especially with a HDD.

< now actually has to clarify if it's a v8 or v7 < has

Edit: < has a v7! The v8 was only released in Japan :D

An old man at the golf course asked what < does for a living. < answered < goes to high school, and he said jokingly that < looked old for a high schooler. < said < gets that a lot, and we laughed.

< has met some nice people at the golf course a few times. :)
