Re: The You Game!
< hates when that happens. < wonders does ^ have unfinished stuff to do making ^'s mind wander as that makes < have trouble sleeping. < gets like that also when < is expecting something they ordered in to arrive in the post the next day.

Re: The You Game!
< does get that, but there's nothing really imminent on <'s mind at present, <'s just not feeling the fatigue <'s been dependent on the last few weeks.
Re: The You Game!
< thinks it's a bit weird how the human body works sometimes. < has had days with 2 hours sleep and stayed up for another 20 while < has had other days with over 8 hours sleep and felt really tired. < has also had days where < wasn't tired and fell asleep immediately while being really tired other times and couldn't sleep a wink.
< does find too much caffeine to contribute to that sometimes but < drinks far too much tea tbh.

< loves the Axe Black body wash < got a couple weeks ago.
< now prefers it over Phoenix, the one < used to get regularly.

Of course, in the end it didn't work… < guesses it's to do with that special driver ^ mentioned. < seems to recall just assuming that having that particular AMD card (whichever it was) would be enough, and expected the BIOS and all to come out at the right resolution and framerate.
< wishes < had a soldering toolkit too. < has had cases where it could come in useful.Steo wrote:< found out that what ^ is saying about the bios is actually correct if ^ used a modified GPU bios. That way even the bios will show up in 15khz. The cable needs Hsync and Vsync properly combined also to make it into Csync (sounds like algebra lol). < was burned with a soldering iron numerous times also and it does hurt
EDIT: ATOM-15 is the bios modifying program.

Re: The You Game!
< has been burned also by soldering irons, not an experience <'d like to go through again.
Re: The You Game!
After < got burned once by the iron < tried to avoid it as much as < could after that. < doesn't like the constant pain of a burn that doesn't go away for ages.
< also isn't the greatest at soldering, but < gets by with it. < says removing a solder bridge without flux/braid isn't an easy task to perform.

Re: The You Game!
<'s never actually soldered with separate flux, <'s only ever come into contact with the leadless type of solder with the flux core.
As for soldering itself. <'d take the lazy option and use reflow if < could, but <'s not quite as averse to it as < used to be. It's just a pity that some of the soldering irons we have aren't always the best at melting the solder.

Re: The You Game!
< is the same. < only used that special solder too but < finds it very hard to remove a solder bridge if too much solder is used. < should have better tools for it but < only solders sometimes anyway. < has a Parkside Lidl soldering iron, but < bought another one which just blew up when < was holding it, so < uses the Lidl one again

< can just imagine how that can feel.Steo wrote:After < got burned once by the iron < tried to avoid it as much as < could after that. < doesn't like the constant pain of a burn that doesn't go away for ages.
Re: The You Game!
^ probably doesn't want to experience it. < thinks it's better to try be careful instead. < says that's better said than done.
When < burned themselves < touched the iron for about 2 seconds after leaving it on the floor. < was too busy looking at something to notice that < had their hand on a soldering iron tip. < reacted by going "aaaaahh you f**kin scalding c*nt you, f**kin b****rd"
<'s hand took nearly a week to get somewhat better.
As for the previous post I forgot to mention on <'s soldering iron does actually get hot enough to melt solder but it takes forever to heat up. It's also hot enough to burn skin, speaking from experience

Re: The You Game!
<'s got a rusty old soldering iron somewhere but < only used it once and < doesn't have the equipment to clean it properly. < used to enjoy soldering in school in DT though < injured <'s self more times than < can remember in those lessons, from soldering burns to blood blisters to 230V mains electric shocks... < had an inability to learn from <'s mistakes it seems

Re: The You Game!
< had 230v mains shocks also and < earthed a faulty socket to a door frame with <'s body
Sounds really funny but it's frightening at the time. < also took apart a PS3 power supply before and ended up with a shock and 3 blisters on <'s thumb. < has the same inability to learn from <'s mistakes
<'s dad has the fireplace stacked but < is sitting in <'s room playing Revolution with the vent blocked because it had a lot of freezing air coming in. < won't leave it blocked though and will put it back the way it was when it stops being so cold.
< says Ambidextroid has cool sigs

Re: The You Game!
< just added more disk space to <'s linux partition using gparted in a live usb.
Re: The You Game!
< went ahead and made a partition on <'s 2tb HDD to install Ubuntu as a test and it worked. <'s SSD didn't show up on the installation screen and < just done that for now to see if it would actually boot.
