He might be a highly trained professional, but he wasn't the namesake I seek

Ok still no luck with this one, so I'll give a clue. If there's no answer come this tomorrow we'll move on. The clue is that the name of the device is in relation to a mechanical component, much in the same way Valve's own name is.

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 8 - Master
December 25th, 0000. I was there.
In all seriousness, if I'm remembering correctly it was at E3 2019.

Nope, 2019 was actually the year Retro Studios took over development of Prime 4 (meaning the game that finally came out last month officially started development over 6 years ago)
Little further back I'm afraid.

E3 2017 is correct! Technically it was a Nintendo Direct as Nintendo stopped doing E3 presentations at this point, but it's the same period of time and it was for the season of E3 so I'll allow it.
I remember getting excited for Prime 4, only to leave once the stream was done and getting messaged afterwards that they'd also announced another Metroid game...Samus Returns. So that was an exciting day...about 8 years ago now.

Backwards Long Jumps! My Nathaniel Bandy phase from 8 years ago finally coming in handy.
Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 8 - Master
Ithasmore should be correct here, I would have said the same.
I actually was about to say it was at Nintendo Direct! The only reason I didn't mention it is because I didn't really view it as an event, since it was held online ^^

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 8 - Master
I suppose I should've expected a quick response given it's a Rayman question xD.
Plums answer is sufficient, it was Redbook Audio. I'm not so sure about the niceties so I can't verify whether the extra information by Fifo is correct, but if it can be corroborated, I shall award him a bonus point because it's interesting. (Yes we're going off QI logic now)
