Speaking of taps, < was downstairs earlier and heard a rather deafening screeching sound which persisted for about 20 minutes while < was fumbling around trying to find out where it was coming from. Turns out it was the bathroom tap squealing from an air buildup, which was somehow loud enough for < to hear through 2 walls...
<'s considering picking up Fusion 2.5 again to attempt to make and actually finish a game, though <'ll have to re-familiarise <'sself with everything

<'s hot bath tap does that sometimes then stops if < turns it on, but it's not loud enough to hear from the next room when it happens.

<'s used Game Maker too though it was a long time ago, and if < remembers correctly < thought it wasn't as good as Fusion (or at least < found Fusion a lot easier to use).
Fusion uses a sort of grid based graphical programming system where you have all of your objects along one axis and conditions along the other, and you put the outcomes of said conditions in the spaces of the grid. It's pretty intuitive but also quite powerful, and if you want to get more technical you can write stuff in Lua.
<'d say the only issue is that there aren't a whole lot of tutorials, though there are a bunch of example programs you can find online and that's probably the easiest way of figuring out how to do stuff, as reverse engineering Fusion programs is really easy because of the grid based system.
