Re: The You Game!
< just figured out why text encoding is still an issue despite the fact that we're in 2018: it's all Microsoft's fault!
Re: The You Game!
Wait until Steo hears about this. < thinks he will be stoked..
< is hyped about the next Rayman 2 challenge.
The NDS Version of Rayman 2 is the next then!
The Race To Kill Razorbeard Part 2!!

Re: The You Game!
< thinks that too. < will try and get some recordings tonite. We'll see.
Re: The You Game!
Microsoft doing something inconvenient? Wow what a surprise and < isn't even being sarcastic at all
Re: The You Game!
< will hopefully see the skills being displayed Rayman DS.
The D-Pad feels weird on the phone for < but it's gonna be fun anyway.
< will wait in anticipation.

Re: The You Game!
Yep. < has known for about a year that Windows is basically all COM under the hood, despite encouraging people to transition to .NET. But somehow < didn't twig until tonight that Windows is also all UTF-16 under the hood, with banjaxed UTF-8 support. This is why we can't have nice things!Steo wrote:Microsoft doing something inconvenient? Wow what a surprise and < isn't even being sarcastic at all
< is reminded of Wednesday's XKCD by ^^^'s repeated touchscreen problems…
Re: The You Game!
A lot of these things really make < want to change to Linux only for the fact that < needs Windows due to the fact that all of the games are made for it. Then again < would nearly be best off with an old DELL Dimension running WIndows XP at this stage since < likes playing Rayman
< was going to say since all the games work on Windows, but they don't. Rayman 2 doesn't work on Windows 10 for < (Uplay version) and when < tried nGlide when testing windows 7 it seemed too fast. < is basically stuck with 2 options, WIndows 7 with Bluetooth not working for xinput or Windows 10 with way more problems and working xinput via Bluetooth

Re: The You Game!
< thinks Wine is the best bet for Rayman 2, much moreso than any version of real Windows.
Rayman 3 is more iffy though, since RibShark's tool relies on .NET and that sort of thing.
Re: The You Game!
< supposes there's no harm in trying out Linux because nobody says < can't switch back within like 10 minutes anyway. The funny thing is even Linux has a simple fix for Bluetooth xinput which just further proves Microsoft are forcing people to upgrade.

Re: The You Game!
Yeah, as long as you're not taking a principled position against proprietary firmware and all that, a lot of stuff works really well on Linux. < has gradually noticed the improvement even over the last decade or so.
Re: The You Game!
< also knows Linux has more possibilities than windows, such as a simple task like flashing the EDID of a TV/Monitor. < couldn't find a way to do that under Windows but on Ubuntu < could just use edid-rw if < recalls correctly.
EDIT: edid-decode was part of the command.

Re: The You Game!
< really needs to relearn how to use Linux before < installs and starts doing <‘s programming there instead.
< seems to be having problems with <‘s VBA. For some reason < noticed that when < was playing one of the games it was missing a sound channe or two. < compared <‘s video of R1 GBC to Haruka’s just to be certain..
Hmmm....

Re: The You Game!
< is quite feckin' annoyed right now. <'s computer is so new that < has to enable a BIOS option which emulates a PS/2 mouse and keyboard for Windows 7 to make them work until the driver is installed.
< installed windows 7 and had the drivers on <'s other internal HDD (Windows is on the SSD) after < had finished the installation, < installed the LAN driver and went to install the USB driver.
The computer tells < the USB driver failed to install as it was unsigned for some reason leaving no USB devices working at all and leaving < to have to install Windows 7 again as < had no control over the PC whatsoever.
It's actually so stupid that it's a little bit funny actually

< is also frustrated, with <'s VBA. Though < thinks that < can find a solution to the missing sound channels to certain games.
Re: The You Game!
< can test the same version tomorrow for ^

Re: The You Game!
< forgot to mention the VBA is 1.8 and the Rom was from emuparadise, though < doesn't think the ROM has anything to do with it.
< will continue looking for an answer tonight and see.

Re: The You Game!
OK, < will continue testing and let ^ know if < needs help
Re: The You Game!
< tells ^ that it might be faster if we can all play the Rayman 2 Challenge as actual people and When a person is finished with a level They have to post their times given from a stopwatch and accompany it with a reason how and why They cleared it at that time to help < give more details in <'s report. Anyone can start playing at anytime, Just put your time records for finishing a level and someone else will want to play and try to beat it and it will be labeled and stated who finished the level first(by the fastest time).
No videos might be needed for this after all.

Re: The You Game!
Sounds pretty terrible Steo
<'s learning to touch type, < thought < was doing alright at first but getting used to some of these keys is tricky. < keeps mixing up O and U...
Edit: whoops, missed a page
< remembers having problems with USB 3 when < was setting up <'s PC, luckily < has a bunch of PS2 compatible stuff stored away
