Re: Favorite Games
Unless you are talking about "main themes", latest Sonic games' music do not fit the "rock" tag. Feel free to extend, I'm in mood for countering that.

Mah boi, modern day Sonic music isn't what all true warriors strive for.stan423321 wrote:Unless you are talking about "main themes", latest Sonic games' music do not fit the "rock" tag. Feel free to extend, I'm in mood for countering that.

Re: Favorite Games
Fine. By this logic, Brahms isn't what all true warriors strive for, therefore it is rock. Right?
Hold on, withdraw that. I have something better. The common sense tells me there was at least one true warrior which was deaf. Therefore he (?) didn't care about music at all. Therefore, there is no music that all true warriors strive for, therefore all music is rock.

Re: Favorite Games
My #1 favorite game of all time? Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater/Subsistence. Like I said on DA, I like how it shows Big Boss and Ocelot's pasts and origins (Portable Ops and Peace Walker do the same too), the gameplay is more challenging than MGS1 and 2 due to the fact that you are traveling through the jungle, have less places to hide, need to rely on camouflage, and in order to keep your stamina up, you have to kill animals and eat them, etc., the boss battles are some of the most fun bosses in the series (and I really like how each member of the Cobra Unit resembles war: Pain, Fear, End, Fury, Sorrow, Boss), the graphics are by far the best on the PS2, and the part at the end where Big Boss is forced to kill his mentor, The Boss, is one of the most emotional moments in gaming history.
My other favorite games are Secret of Mana, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Psychonauts, Heavy Rain, Metal Gear Solid, Persona 4, Super Mario Galaxy, Rock Band 3 (because of the Pro Guitar mode that teaches you how to play real guitar), Metal Gear Solid 2, Disgaea 2, Street Fighter: 3rd Strike, Little Big Planet 2 (even though the online community consists of total douchebags, there are some very imaginative and amazing levels out there), Super Smash Bros. Melee, Resistance 2, Rayman 2, Resident Evil 4, Sonic CD, Brutal Legend, and lots more.

Re: Favorite Games
I just beat Super Paper Mario last night!
I can't tell is the ending is happy or sad.

Re: Favorite Games
I think the storyline of Super Paper Mario is too dark in general. It seems really off to have something like that for a Mario game, even if it's a very different one.

Oh, it seems that I've seen spoil.
Greuh, I hope I will still enjoy Super Paper Mario. ><
(if I buy it one day… Maybe in 2012)

Re: Favorite Games
I really liked the storylines for the Paper Mario series, yes they're darker, but they're also different.

Re: Favorite Games
The stories of the Paper Mario exploit in an excellent way the Mario universe. I would like if the New Super Mario Bros. were as originals as the Paper Mario.
And mostly the Thousand Year Door ! The game has a Mario context (more than the characters, there are Goombas, Koopas, pipes, mushrooms, etc…), but add to it a large amount of original ideas. For example, where new Super Mario Bros. has a field world, mountain world, beach world, snow world, etc, Paper Mario has an incredible Forest, a city in the sky, a haunted church, an pirate island, etc… It's Mario, but it's also some other concepts, other atmospheres…
I don't want a Mario to be serious. The Mario universe is fun, colored, naive, and joyful. Paper Mario prove that we can do a game with that criteria, and make it epic, beautiful, interesting and crazy. It isn't needed to do a Carebears game if we want it to be accessible and simple. Original plots are compatible with cuteness ! =D
That's why my favorite interpretations of the Mario universe are Mario Galaxy (the first only), and mostly PM : The Thousand Years Door.

Re: Favorite Games
I think Paper Mario had one of the greatest Mario stories ever. I really loved that game.
Re: Favorite Games
What is your favourite Mario game Haruka?
Re: Favorite Games
I personally like a lot Super Mario 64 DS, Paper Mario and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 2.
It reminds me I should continue (SNES) SMB3 in my Wii.

Re: Favorite Games
My favorite has got to be Paper Mario: The Thousand year Door or Yoshi's Island.
Re: Favorite Magazines
Talking about Nintendo, the [N]Gamer Magazine just arrived in my mail. Let's see: Star Fox 3D gets an 8 out of 10, the history of Donkey Kong (Which turned 30 years old!), 100 - 76 of [N]Gamer's top 100 favourite video games of all time. Donkey Kong Country Returns get 100 and 76 goes to Super Mario Sunshine. Some other were Double Dragon, Mario Kart DS, Duck Hunt (77!), Okami, Metroid. Oh! Let's not forget that ''Polar Express'' for the Wii officially earned an [N]Gamer Poop award after all these years. They also released a huge index with all games they reviewed and tell which games are awesome, normal, or have won a Poop Award.
