Perhaps a hint of sorts is in order?Master wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 8:14 am Hmm, still no attempts at this one.
Alright, I'm not quite sure if that's down to the current lull in activity or if this question's just too hard. If anyone wants me to switch the question, just voice it here and it shall be done. Otherwise I'm inclined to keep this one as-is, if it's down to activity levels a switch in question isn't going to make a difference.

That's a fair point. I'll offer the following clue: the name is derived from myth, whereby an item is opened.

Isn't that Pandora's Battery, more specifically?

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 8 - Master
That gave it away pretty quick didn't it?
Yeah...it's called the Pandora Battery (though I am surprised to learn it also has an "official" name, I've only ever heard it referred to as a Pandora Battery)
If you're curious: https://www.psdevwiki.com/psp/index.php/JigKick_Battery
Now I'm not quite sure how to determine who wins the point, as I'd have accepted Pandora. But Reese's answer is more correct...so I'm inclined to give him the point. But if there is a need for a second opinion I'm happy to hear it out.

Oh, I know this one : it's the corrupted blood!
Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 8 - Master
Corrupted blood, a debuff of Hakkar the Soulflayer in Zul Gurub (classic/vanilla). It spread in an AoE radius to other players, and players teleported to SW/IF and spread it to others, killing most players in capital cities. It was researched by real life epidemeologists to study how viruses/diseases spread.

I think it was somehow related to how peaceful or aggresive you were with other people.

Hmm, answers a bit vague, but if I don't hear any valid addendums before the end of the day today, I'll give the point to Dave.

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 8 - Master
Well so normally matchmaking is based on your level/skill (if it works correctly, of course), but in Arc Raiders the user behaviour is also important: if you like PvP, the matchmaking will make you find people that also spend more time in PvP. However, if you don't like PvP and prefer to play coop modes (i.e., more friendly towards other users), the matchmaking will make you find people that also don't like PvP and prefer playing coop. Simplifying it, it's like having two different lobbies, but instead of choosing which one do you prefer, the game's matchmaking will sort the players depending on the way they normally play. However, that doesn't mean you won't find a player who prefers PvP...

Re: Video Games Knowledge Quiz - Season 8 - Master
That'll do me! Yup, if you're more into attacking other players you'll be grouped in with players who also play a similar style, whereas if your playstyle is more co-operative then you'll be grouped with players who play similarly.

Isn't this something to do with bit rot when flash memory isn't powered on for a while? I remember even doing cold-storage long-term with SSDs and other flash based memory can lead to bit rot.

Hmm, it's vague, but much like with Dave's answer for the previous question, it's treading the right waters. I'll allow for another attempt and if no-one gets it, I'll elaborate and give Reese the point.

Alright I think I've given enough time. The phenomenon is pretty much bit rot, but I wanted a little more detail as the cartridges would expected to be using ROM. However, they both use a form of NAND Flash, it's meant to be long lasting, but it needs refreshing.
If you want more detail, please give this thread a read: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-sw ... an.591607/
And after you've done that, maybe CHECK YOUR OWN CARTS AND PUT THEM IN A SWITCH/3DS.
