Why isn't there a "peace" smiley when you need it?Rayfist wrote:The day RPC went to war. <----(This is a joke btw)
Did you read the rest of what I said? Anyway, the more 'upsetting' thing is what we are writing so-called essays about! If writing essays (which I'm not doing...?) bothered me more than the current state of gaming then I wouldn't be contributing here, would I?Going far as to writing essays on why you think "this thing is bad" has to be upsetting you some way, maybe not the entire experience, but if you're convincing us with essays upon essays of why this is bad of COURSE we're going to think your experience is being hindered.Jewish Candy wrote:Also, "it really hinders your experience"? Yes, that's exactly why we talk about it and try to change problematic stuff.
I did indeed - I believe it started not with Anita, but with a news story about GTAV being pulled off Australian shelves. You guys expressed some bile towards Anita that myself and Serza took issue with, Serza ventured in, here we are! My point was that you keep trying to pull this round to Anita even when Serz was saying "we're agreed on her, now there's also this" . She ISN'T the be all and end all, nor is she particularly representative, as we have both stated. She did not start feminism in gaming, my god, man! Perhaps she was the origin of your awareness of feminism in gaming, and she has certainly made waves. But when we, two feminists in gaming, are actually talking to you... It strikes me as a bit obsessed.Did you read from the start? That's how the conversation started, it's fine to see Serza is fully aware she's an idiot (anita, not you serz, lol) but my main gripe is feminism with games in general, I would love to see more female protagonists but you all go such far lengths to tell people they're wrong. And in the end it not only hurts yourself but others.
I skimmed through since I'm looking through Serza's post too, both of you really want to disprove me so I'm trying to get to both. And btw I wasn't implying you when I said writing essays.Jewish Candy wrote:Did you read the rest of what I said? Anyway, the more 'upsetting' thing is what we are writing so-called essays about! Anita links to all this though, Anita links to how all this happened, I'm not trying to shove it in anyone's face like "OH ANITA IS A PIECE OF SHIT, BELIEVE ME", I'm just trying to state, my paragraph about Anita wasn't even that long. If she agrees then good for her. And Anita DID start the trend, of course she isn't the first, but she is the one to promote such acts and that "it was okay" amongst others. Maybe I did mention her too much and I apoligise for that.Jewish Candy wrote:I did indeed - I believe it started not with Anita, but with a news story about GTAV being pulled off Australian shelves. Oh again with the "you disagree on our stance, you must be obsessed."Jewish Candy wrote:It strikes me as a bit obsessed.
It's not that you wrote long paragraphs, just that you kept. Bringing. Her. Up.Rayfist wrote: Anita links to all this though, Anita links to how all this happened, I'm not trying to shove it in anyone's face like "OH ANITA IS A PIECE OF SHIT, BELIEVE ME", I'm just trying to state, my paragraph about Anita wasn't even that long. You're right, let's look towards the other major roles in gaming... Zoe Quinn... oh. See? It's not Anita that's the problem, it's the fact that any big feminist gamer can barely disprove anything. I guess I was bringing up Anita too much, but my main point is that any major feminist role we've seen in games hasn't been able to thoroughly disprove anything without any form of "HARASSMENT! MISOGYNY!" Thus, the problem ensues. You can't deny the fact that this topic didn't become popular until you know who showed up, that's all I'll say on that topic.Jewish Candy wrote:It's not that you wrote long paragraphs, just that you kept. Bringing. Her. Up.Which trend? The trend of feminist scrutiny of gaming? She's not an examplar in that fashion, and it was going on before she got there. No, it seems to me that her importance stems from the fact that she introduced this sort of criticism to You(TM) (not you specifically, it's a general you). She's not even a good example of it.
She is not the source of the GTAV incident and other similar happenings. She is one voice of that source, one particular voice that You(TM) have amplified.
Not that you let me know (I am grateful for that by the way), but the way it was phrased, which was a bit misrepresentitive of your current stance.Jewish Candy wrote:Oh but wait, you seem a little peeved that I let you know.
It didn't become popular until you started using inflammatory language. Mention Anita? Pshaw. Joke about how she should be hit? You'll notice that's what Serza first responded to. This conversation would have gone very differently if you hadn't used that language. A discussion would still have been had, I'm sure - but it would have been different.Rayfist wrote: You're right, let's look towards the other major roles in gaming... Zoe Quinn... oh. See? I would rather kill myself than live in a world were people make jokes that seem like tumblr would make. You know those stupid posts that have horrendous grammar.Rayfist wrote:This world would be pretty shit without offensive jokes, don't be ashamed Ad.
Even though I apoligised for the hit statement TWICE. You talk about my two repeating statements yet you haven't brung that up? I'm not insulting anyone here but it bothers me how when I challenge someone else's opinion all of a sudden it's "quit being obsessive, quit insulting". I'm putting these as nicely as possible, I'm not sure what else you want honestly. I'm sorry if I came across as a bit dickish, I'm just disagreeing for the most part (I use a bit of fucks and shits there to describe something). I do thank you for telling me I was a bit harsh because I try to prevent that.Jewish Candy wrote:It didn't become popular until you started using inflammatory language. Mention Anita? Pshaw. One of many, it's not just Zoe, I said ANYONE who has tried to disprove has done poorly, at least you and Serza are holding up, and that I do respect.Jewish Candy wrote:And the fact that you cite Zoe Quinn as a major role(?) in gaming only proves my point that this is ultimately to do with where your attention lies. When we provide you with a different outlook on feminism in gaming, you rush back to your Literally Who's because it's all you seem to know. We're trying to broaden that. I don't doubt you respect Serza
All I seem to know, yet I mentioned thousands of others things relating to this.Jewish Candy wrote:Literally Who's because it's all you seem to know.
I'm not denying that you apologised, and I appreciate that you stopped.Rayfist wrote: Even though I apoligised for the hit statement TWICE. If we're seriously the first feminists you've talked to who are 'holding up', I think you've got a whole big wonderful world to discover. Is there a singing emote? It would be perfect here.Rayfist wrote: One of many, it's not just Zoe, I said ANYONE who has tried to disprove has done poorly, at least you and Serza are holding up, and that I do respect.
I don't see why videogames should be exempt from feminist critique when every other medium recieves it. If you don't think feminism should critique anything at all, well, we're going to have to disagree.Rayfist wrote:Reading back even I don't agree with all my statements, but I still cling onto the fact feminism in gaming is unnecessary really.
Most feminists I've seen either just block or disable, so it is fairly new to me.Jewish Candy wrote:If we're seriously the first feminists you've talked to who are 'holding up', I think you've got a whole big wonderful world to discover. Is there a singing emote? It would be perfect here.
I don't mind it, but when it just goes to such extreme lengths, doesn't it get tiring at all? I'm fine with maybe one woman casually mentioning "Well okay, I do personally think more females should be added in games is fine", it's just the very forceful behavior that makes me look the other way, you see?Jewish Candy wrote:I don't see why videogames should be exempt from feminist critique when every other medium recieves it. Lol, I wish I knew if that was an insult or compliment.Jewish Candy wrote:I think you're a decent shimmyshoo, Rayfish.
I don't think Candish has any intent on insulting anyone.Rayfist wrote:Lol, I wish I knew if that was an insult or compliment.
And men in all of this? Do we have a word about more main characters being female? Just curious if we have the right to ask for itRayfist wrote: I'm fine with maybe one woman casually mentioning "Well okay, I do personally think more females should be added in games is fine"
