I'll probably end up saying probably not, but if you have any ideas you can share them and if I think they're suitable I'll include them.
Ok I got it finished. Here's a link: http://www.iaza.com/work/110816C/iaza12649242341600.jpg

Sorry the left foot wouldn't fit in the scanner. :mefiant: . Well? What do you reckon? I can do some of different characters if you want. Oh and on the right side of the eyes I removed that bit of head.
And of course my post is completely ignored again. :mefiant: .
I told you to add lots of :mefiant: and  to your posts. It may sound a bit silly, but smiley faces truly do bring a lot more attention to your posts.
Ok. :mefiant: So did you like my drawing of Rayman? holding an Electoon? :D :?:

Better? :mefiant: :mefiant: :mefiant:

Sorry beebo, I've been really busy lately, and I've had to type from my Blackberry for the last day or two, and I couldn't see the drawing clearly on my BB Curve screen. Anyway because you might be wanting to keep the drawing, I 'shopped it to make it more visible:

Image

I like it, though for the game it's not exactly what I'm looking for in regards to concept art. I hate giving critique, but I have no choice since it's... well you know... my game. A couple technical things I'd have to say are that it's not proportionate enough and that the level needs to be a bit higher in terms of overall quality. Don't let that discourage you though, keep up the drawing! :)

I will accept fan art from people (I'm not sure what to call it really, fan art for a fan game?) and I'll put them up in the front post of the topic if they want.

It's alright if you don't like it, everyone has their own preferences, but can i ask what kind of Rayman would you prefer for this game? This is a bit of a mix from different Rayman games. Shoes-R3, Hair/Ears-R2, Scarf-R1. So what's your preference? I can try different style. BTW I drew this when I got home from school, was really tired by then. XD. So yeah, if you want post your preferrences for Rayman's style and I'll try again.

Everything in the R2 style. Also you said the hair in that drawing was an R2 style though that's the 3 style (the R2 style having a fold in the mid-segment of the hair, one end having a cut in the middle and the other being flat). Sure you can try again, but I ask if you can make the drawing have a relevance to the game. Take one of the descriptions of an event in a level (look at the first post) and create a concept scene based off your interpretation of it (such is the practice of a concept artist).

I had the same problem and I though (huh, maybe there is no sound!), but then I noticed my speakers weren't plugged in because I just installed 6 more GB of RAM (now I have 12). So yes, my sound works.

I can now run CryEngine3, Photoshop and 3ds Max with only using 30% of my RAM. 8)

Cool!
I've got a question though - I launched the Launcher.exe in the 32Bin, then the Editor.exe, but nothing seems to happen. The Launcher shows the perpetual screen of CryTek's logo, after logging in, and the Editor shows a loading screen, logs me in, then quits and nothing else is launched after that. Is there something I need to do? I just saved the zip file and extracted it to my Desktop in a folder I named 'CryEngine', as a temporary storage so I could see what it was more easily than looking for it in Program Files.

PS
What kind of hardware do you need to upgrade your virtual memory? I have 2GB and that's... not quite going to be enough, I think.

 I hope you do make a Picture City level! It would be great to see it in 3D and I thought the Picture City concept art of the cancelled Rayman 4 looked very nice:
https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/File:N_Room3.jpg
This one seems to be a cave with pencils as stalactites and stalagmites. There's also a lot of water (or ink?) falling down and rushing through the cave.
https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/File:R4_Ba ... mage_4.jpg
This one is outside and a lot of objects from the original game (erasers, starry erasers, drawing pins, a paint bucket, pencil sharpeners, and a river of ink/paint) and also books (which didn't appear in Rayman 1) can be seen.

In a 3D game, Picture City could look like an actual city with skyscrapers made out of erasers! Hey, if a Band Land level can be fitted into the game I don't see why this can't - there's always room for those fantastic, surrealistic, imaginary landscapes in Rayman's world! :D
I think one of the places it could fit in is between Starlight Peak and Canyon of the Lost because the Peak will have an icy lake and the Canyon will be in the middle of the desert - quite a drastic change for two consecutive levels. Of course other Rayman games have drastic changes as well but I do like the way you order your levels - when you move from one level to the next the transition makes sense and it's not like you just visit a series of random locations one after another (basically your level transitions are Rayman 3 style rather than Rayman 2 style - I hope that makes sense).

But it's your game, so you should decide whether or not you want to do it. If you don't, I'll just play that3Dguy's game!
...nah, I'm kidding. This game is going to be awesome and I'm definitely going to play it!

Well like I said in the description, it's not the final order or confirmed number of levels. I want to have a desert level between Peak and Canyon, and possibly one more. I think I have come up with an extravagantly unique thought on a desert map, I just need to think of a name before I upload it, and I care A LOT about names. :)

Very unoriginal and simplistic. Sorry for being blatant. ;) Level names should have a catch to them, and it's usually better to have a native language speaker to do them. I'm not trying to put anyone in their place at all if that's what it sounds like, I'm just pointing something out.

Hehe, guess you're right, the hair is R3 style. Ok, I'll try again, about not being relevant, that was just to show you what my Rayman looks like.

Hey everyone, the new SDK is amazing. I'm working on Rayman's gameplay mechanics and everything is sailing so well. The animation transitions are smooth, I've got a whole live character mechanics system working (collisions with the world/gravity). The only problem is that for some reason Rayman's right foot just hangs limp while the rest of him is animated when I apply the character physics to him. If I apply the animations to him as a static object it all works fine. I find it to be an odd problem. It won't affect my development, it just looks really weird and may give me the wrong idea when programming the rest of the mechanics. Here's an amusing picture of him running without the use of his right foot:

Image

However I have vastly improved the running animation and it looks pretty perfect for the time being (compared to the "early gameplay sample" where he ran like a dork). You'll also notice how his hands aren't fists when he's running. that's because currently CryEngine3 doesn't support modifier animation (animating the vertexes and poly data). It only supports animation for position, rotation, and scale. I hope they introduce modifier support soon.
