Re: Rayman Origins
Am I the only one here who really likes the Psychlops? They're probably going to be extremely annoying enemies in the game (spikes!), but I love their design nonetheless.
Re: Rayman Origins
Thanks for that one.Drolpiraat wrote:The digital version of the gameinformer article is online now, so you can read it completely without any quality loss:

when you view it try clicking on the TV symbol on the right, it shows a slide of some cool concept-art photos!

That's a great find, thanks! Land of the Dead looks awesomerayguy wrote:when you view it try clicking on the TV symbol on the right, it shows a slide of some cool concept-art photos!
Also, red lums? And pics of the Bubble Dreamer. Nice.
I'm also wondering if we'll get to visit that castle in the sky. Might be part of Band Land?
Re: Rayman Origins
Some interesting screens here!

I hope this sausage boy is not redesigned Joe the ET... :>

Rocky form of Bubble Dreamer

Bubbling kung fu master

My favourite ent-like form. I'm hyped as hell, unfortunately I won't be able to watch E3 live.

What's up with the old lady and the cemetary? The art style there is completely different.

Re: Rayman Origins
How did none of us notice these images until now? I really like the Land of the Dead; there’s an obvious and very distinct Cave of Bad Dreams/Tomb of the Ancients influence, but all the zombies and graveyard stuff also remind me of MediEvil, another excellent platformer. I like the Lovecraftean monster erupting out of the ground; it looks like most of the bosses in Origins will be gigantic ones. I love the R1, R2 and R3 artwork/screenshot collages; the R3 ones actually contain some never-before seen concept work. Notice that the granny zombie wields a rolling pin – is there a Space Mama connection? I really like Bubble Dreamer’s three forms; they’re all very different but they all emphasise Polokus’s sedentary nature, so it’s easy to imagine they’re all the same character (especially the shaolin master, who isn’t miles away from Polokus’s true form). I like how the pipe and the bubbles have been woven into every design – these are quite recognisable motifs and serve as a good visual metaphor for Polokus’s creative abilities. I think we’ll encounter one of Bubble Dreamer’s forms at the end of each world, or after each boss (or perhaps both; there may be a boss at the end of each world). The artwork of the castle in the sky is absolutely fantastic; they really are going for the R1/Avatar aesthetic with floating landmasses; the buildings remind me of the Musician’s hut in the Blue Mountains – will we see him again? – and the imagery of the colossal tentacles descending from the heavens convinces me that the developers are fans of the works of HP Lovecraft. I hope the clouds whirl about the pink monster in the same way clouds whirled about the Crow’s Nest in Rayman 2; the same goes for the orbiting landmasses – that would look very cool. The concept art of the castle overlooking the lake reminds me of the Teensie buildings we briefly glimpsed at the end of the Longest Shortcut; I’ve always thought it would be interesting to see more of that city.
Re: Rayman Origins
Hey Tulio, where did you find those pictures? Those are amazing!
I never imagined Polokus in a kung-fu master form.

Re: Rayman Origins
The shaolin Polokus also reminds me of the Caterpillar from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Wise old sedentary hookah-smokers...
Haruka – click the television icon which appears on the right of the screen when you view the GameInformer article.

By the way Tulio, how did you save the screens? I used a simple Print-screen but I thought maybe there was a smarter way to save it in full qualityrayguy wrote:when you view it try clicking on the TV symbol on the right, it shows a slide of some cool concept-art photos!
Re: Rayman Origins
Lovely new images

Re: Rayman Origins
Zoom&printscreen, the easiest way. :> Also - we should upload some of this on Raywiki, guys.rayguy wrote:By the way Tulio, how did you save the screens? I used a simple Print-screen but I thought maybe there was a smarter way to save it in full quality
It's probably just an concept art, not thing which will be recycled directly into a game. What's up with the old lady and the cemetary? The art style there is completely different.

I'm already taking care of that a couple of minutes ago.Tulio wrote: Also - we should upload some of this on Raywiki, guys.
Thanks Spiral.spiraldoor wrote: Haruka – click the television icon which appears on the right of the screen when you view the GameInformer article.
So much delicious concept art and artworks around there! The picture of the big skull reminded me the Elephant Graveyard from Lion King I.

Re: Rayman Origins
It would be tedious, but you could get full-quality images by maximising the zoom, taking print-screens of different parts of the images and then stitching them together with some image-editing software.rayguy wrote:By the way Tulio, how did you save the screens? Re: Rayman Origins
Or finding a software to extract content from flash files.
Re: Rayman Origins
Already tried that. It's not in the actual flash files, it's somewhere on their servers, and it's protected (because the next digital GameInformer issues won't be free) so I can't access it. :/Haruka wrote:Or finding a software to extract content from flash files.

Re: Rayman Origins
I took three screenshots of one image and edited them together. It’s really big but I thought it was appropriate to save the full-quality version.

We should probably do this for the rest of the images – this is just a ‘free sample’ of the digital GameInformer and I wouldn’t be surprised if it got taken down.

Re: Rayman Origins
Haha I should go to expos more often these are all great!
Re: Rayman Origins
I zoomed as much as my screen's resolution allowed me and then captured. I did this for most of the pics, and the results are here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?6snqmatqa6spq96
It's far from the max quality i know, but that's the best I could do

Re: Rayman Origins
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling the zoomed-out view is showing the images at their original resolution. Zooming in just results in a softer image and the slider on the right reads upwards of 100% the further in you zoom.Drolpiraat wrote:Already tried that.
